Makes sense.I think when we "talk about how many backs we have", it is more along the lines of "we don;t have any, come here and you can play right away if you 'compete'", than "we are loaded but you can come play early if you 'compete'".
This team badly needs a true burner at RB. Wood is fast, but not excessively so.
He's pretty fast.....
He tells UT a whole different story. I love the recruiting game. More speed would be nice. I think we'll have to take his teammate as well.
Cierre Wood is fast.
I'm all for speed and it appears this kid has it. Curious what his interest in us really is.
“High,” Kimbrow said. “Very high.”
“I feel comfortable talking to them,” he said. “They talk about how many backs they have, how they would love to have me there. They say I would have to work for (playing time), and they weren’t going to give me anything. That’s what I like. I like competing.”

kid is good player , but on highlight he playing against memphis inner city school which is really, really bad in football, you has to keep that in mind when your watch his highlight film.
Just read on Rivals that Kimbrow says that Vandy is #1. Didn't see that one coming. He is in no rush to decide but not looking good for ND. Cincinnati is #2 and after that he doesn't really have an order. VANDY?
CINCY? At least Vandy is a good school.
For a player with big time offers, I don't get the whole Vandy thing. Yeah it's a great school, but to always lose every SEC game you play & finish last every year doesn't appeal to me. It's not even like the national attention is high for Vandy at all, they almost never get a CBS game.
Stanford I can understand, but Vandy? We wouldn't be losing recruits to them ( even if they are Tennessee boys).
The thing is, we have no idea what his story is. Maybe he's dead set on getting a quality education where he knows he'll be pushed in the classroom, and he wants to play in front of his family. Maybe his grandpa is his hero and he's sick and he can't travel to away games, and so he wants to play in front of his grandpa and get a great education. Maybe his dad passed away and he feels a father-like connection with the Vandy coach.
The point, we just don't know. I applaud the kid for making education a priority, and I'll wait to hear his reasoning before I question him or condemn ND for not getting him (and there's still about 270 days until NSD btw)...

Really? Ever hear of Earl Bennett?
Charlie Weis offered him an ND scholarship but he chose to go to Vandy.
Bennett was a 3 Time All SEC WR and set the SEC record for career receptions.
I believe Jay Cutler spurned Willingham. He was a first round pick in the NFL.
And they don't "always lose every SEC game". They lose most of them but not all. They were 4-4 in '08, the year they went to a bowl and beat Boston College (who had shutout ND).
Back to Kimbrow.
