This is brought up all the time. He has not taken another visit yet and the staff feels secure. If Weis stays i believe Chris stays on board. Till then, just shrug it off and let the kid do his thing

Headline on ISD which seemed to say that martin's getting ready to crank up the visit tour - to other schools.

I don't have premium access.

He's not going anywhere... we all thought the same thing about Omar Hunter, but look how that all panned out

I have a feeling he goes no matter if Charlie stays. I hope I'm wrong.

I've said since he said he was taking his visits that he was looking for an excuse to jump ship. I still believe it.

The 08 class was really tight except for Hunter. He was the odd man out. Chris has been one of the main recruiters in this class and has developed a strng relationship with the coaches. He is coming to Notre Dame because of Charlie Weis and has said so many times. If Weis is our coach Martin is our man. If not than Martin is not the only recruit we have to worry about

I have no faith that Martin will end up Irish. I hope he does bring his unbelievable talent to South Bend, but I just don't think its going to happen.

Folks,
Please do yourself a favor and STOP watching the actions of this recruit. He should have not commited to ND way back. He was not prepared to stick with ND from as early as last summer. It is highly likely that he is going somewhere else. Get over it and move on. Good Luck Chris!!

Everybody needs to chill out, this kid may leave and if he does ND will still field a team next year....In his defense b/c of people freaking out on boards like this and the media talking about how Charlie is as good as gone, he would be stupid not to have a backup plan.

Why would he be stupid to go to ND if Charlie is gone exactly? As much as I feel like Charlie won't get fired if he finishes strong, he really has done absolutely nothing to put himself in the elite coaches. If I'm on defense, Charlie as head coach would be a negative because he has run through DCs. I should think you would go to a school for the school and the program because even the best coaches are transient. Go to ND because it's the best damn school in the country and even if you never play football again you'll be set up for life.

Because he wants to go to Notre Dame, if the coaching situation becomes stable

Reps for you, buddy. someone other than me sees the big picture.

How is it ever a stupid thing to go to a great school and get free education?

Wow, that is quite possibly the most laughable thing I have heard all week.

if he is coming to ND for the free education...then there is no way he will go to another school. If its the education that he wants, then he wont go to any other schools for visits. If that is the case, he will be Irish no matter what.

BUT

if he wants to win football games, going to ND after Weis is fired IS A FREAKIN STUPID IDEA.

if weis is gone, you can bet that tate and clausen are gone too.....players will leave early, some may xfer to another programs, and recruits (who are being recruited by WEIS) will not go to ND. The rats will be jumping ship

So Chris martin would be going to a school with a decapitated unstable football program, with skill players gone, tons of questions with regards to incoming recruits, offensive/defensive gameplans, etc, etc, etc. you name it. if Weis is gone, there is only one possiblity that Chris MArtin still goes to ND:

thats if he is interested in getting the education....but not to win football games.

If weis is fired, anyone that thinks that the next 2 years wont be dismal on the football field, is delusional.

I love following recruiting as much as anyone on here but some people take this kids choices a bit too personally.

I agree with Jason, these are just young kids, no reason to get all wrapped up and involved as much as some of you do

Could it just be that this kid is loving the attention and is milking his moment in the spotlight? I am not even going to open the thread on this kid until NSD. I hope he puts on the blue and gold, and if not, best of luck to the kid.

As I said in another guys thread: This is a program on the upswing... I see it like a business or corporation. It's a building process. How many programs have we seen that shoot up and toy with being at the top of the rankings and then are gone (I see Cincy as one of these in the makings... Hell, Rutgers and Louiseville were making claims for respect as potential National Champs just 3 - 4 years ago and are back to being simply interesting teams - talk about flavor of the month every few years - Georgia). ND is building a long term solid team. That's what I see as ND's commitment to CW. With a great recruiting class this year - ND's roster will be on par with Florida, Texas, USC, Bama, LSU. ND will not be looking for a team - but putting the right Defensive Staff in place - CW has found pretty much what he needs in Verducci and the Offense Staff - we are a D-line and secondary/linebacker coach away from producing an elite defense to dominate along with the great offense. We thought we had that with Tenuta - but in hindsight his history has not been great against option teams - forgiveable - then the spread comes along and he's not a spread guy either - leaving his players gun-shy even against pro-style.

I think a recruit should take heart here - in threads like these where we may burst into flame from time to time - it's because we have their backs. We don't want mediocraty and we don't want that for them - they are ND men and we love 'em. Look at Bryant Young coming back... We want our staffs to get the best out of them. We would expect that they would want the best coaches to get the best out of them as well. We are a family - we get hurt and Sunday morning we let our anger out, we rant like all families, we say things we wouldn't normally say, we heal, and we stay family - we are ND.

ND 6-4
OU 6-4
USC 7-3

If those are the choices, records won't be much of a factor. USC's got the better record but has been ripped in the past 3 games.
