Any Bob Uecker moment from either of the Major League movies is classic. "So the Indians have a base runner, I think I'll wet my pants."

At the end of "The Sandlot" when he's grown up, up in the broadcast booth and Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez steals home and gives the thumbs up.

Classic.

In the original Bad News bears when the bears throw away the runner up trophy, drink beer and flip off the Yankees.

A lot of great one mentioned already, but I can't believe no one mentioned The Rookie. The part where the minor league coach tells Jimmy Morris, "You're goin' too." Gets me every damn time! Then he gets to go tell his wife and son. Awesome!

even better, when he calls home and asks his wife to bring a suit to Arlington tomorrow... "because you see the Major Leagues have this whole dress code thing..."

Rocky II - when Adrienne wakes up from the coma and says, "There's something I want you to do for me...WIN!" and then the music hits! Gets me hyped every time!

growing up in a baseball family and understanading completely the story of Cosner's character in Field of Dreams... the moment "Uh, Dad.... (cries) want to have a catch?"....

is the one of best/hardest moment in movie history... I'm choking up just thinking about it...

The moment in Cinderella Man when he swallows his pride and goes back to the Garden offices and begs for money to turn the heat on... any father/real man who has dealt with even remote finace problems has to be touched HARD by that... cry every time...

those are two right there... of course Rudy's dad reacting to his glory is huge too, but obvious for this site.

That scene in Cinderella Man actually made me a huge fan of crowes, Ive never seen an actor say so much without saying it. If that makes any sense to you

For some reason the part in Rudy where he gets the sack, gets carried off and D-Bob (Jon Favreau, in his film debut) is up shouting "Who's a wild man now!!".. That was also my immediate name choice when I joined this site.

Also loved every bit of the Shane Falco story! Quicksand!

The reason this is my favorite moment is during my junior year of high school I was ready to give up on football. We had just played our scrimage game and I played really poorly gave up 2 sacks on Offense and got beat off the ball for a TD on Defense I was ready to turn in my stuff come monday. I went home and on some tv station this was on and I saw thsi scene decided if I had already played 2 years of it I might as well finish out. While I never really started a game let alone make all conference or get a scholarship to ND things got better and I'm glad I finished playing football because the following year was a very special year in our school's history.

Pretty much every scene has been mentioned.

*Like ACamp, nothing gets better, for me, than Costner asking his dad to play catch. I just got chills as I wrote it. My favorite sports movie of all time.

* Hoosiers, the entire final scene from when Jimmy says he'll hit the shot and the way the director got that play so perfectly like the real shot. Also in Hoosiers, I loved when one player says he wants to win it for all the small schools that never got that far.

* The lights going off at the end of the Natural of course, but I also loved when he was hitting his first batting practice and just crushing shot after shot while everyone watched in amazement. And when I was a kid, the part of the movie that I always remembered was when he struck out the Babe at the carnival on 3 pitches.

* I could go on and one, but I'll give you one from a film that hasn't been mentioned yet. A track movie based on a true story called Running Brave was phenomenal, and I highly recommend it. The last scene, in which the protagonist improbably beats the top runner in the world after getting shoved off the main lane twice is incredible, topped off by his old college coach (and former nemesis) telling him that "that was the best g**damn kick he'd ever seen". Awesome scene and movie...

The locker room speech in Brian's Song. One of the more emotional scences i have ever watched. For the younger guys who have not seen the movie I highly recommend it,warning your eyes might sweat a little during this.

As a former pitcher this was as close as I've seen to just what goes thru your mind out there without all the flashback stuff. The way he talked to himself and the like or distain for some of the guys he faced was very close to reality. I actually use clear the mechanism with my students. This was a very good portrait of a pitcher-except for the wandering off during the game to past experiences-there's just no time for that as you sorta have your hands full. This and The Natural are my two best baseball movies. Rudy and Remember The Titans are my football best. Honarble mention-Jim Thorpe All American when he shows up at a track meet with one other guy and Pop Warner says in answer to where's the rest of your team-he throws the shot-and Thorpe does the rest.

No movie ever made me cry like We are Marshall... I pretty much choked up ten minutes in and never stopped until the movie ended...

The sympathetic emotional scenes are probably most impactful and "Dad would you like a catch?" just is too hard to separate from my feelings about my own Dad who died too young.

But I also like to see complete B*astards get their faces shoved in it, so I'll mention in Remember the Titans when Denzel Washington tosses the banana to the prejudiced Sh!thead coach. God forgive me but I felt good about that.

I was going to post this same clip. I have it forever bookmarked on my browser. It's probably one of the greatest scenes in any movie (not just sports) ever.

I'm with you on that reaction to the scene. I don't think that you need ask forgiveness (other than for being situationally unforgiving) since Coach's reaction and action were more than reserved and appropriate.

While I realize that "literary license" and a bit of latitude were taken with the depiction of the actual event, I appreciate and cherish the cellulose moment on screen.

How about the scene in Necessary Roughness where you see Kathy Ireland's legs in those short shorts.

Not really a movie, but I used to just bust a gut when Chris Farley used to do the Olympic figure skater routine on SNL--kind of like a figure skater for the common man. He'd come out on skates with a wife-beater t-shirt and boxer shorts and a beer in his hand. Then, on every "complicated" move (like trying to get both skates a half-inch off the ground at the same time), he would just take these most amazing falls and crash into the wall. I don't know how he didn't kill himself. In the meantime, the announcer is narrating it all serious like at the real Olympics. Best "sports" video I've ever seen.
