Writer in Oregon heard the rumors and went straight to the athletic department there. They said they have heard nothing and have not been contacted by the NCAA (which really means nothing as a news outlet supposedly has te story not the ncaa). Hiwever, Where was it ever said that it was a rival of USC I read Cowherds minute long monologue an it said nothing of that. All he said was that is was not, was not Auburn ( yes twice).

On a side note:

Even IF this is true, whatever team is supposedly "going down" will not have ANYTHING significant happen out of the ordeal for at least 3 years, and the punishment will be nothing like the "death penalty" most people seem to think will occur.

*There is VIDEO evidence of Bruce Pearl commiting numerous violations for UT basketball, and that story broke over a year ago. The NCAA is spineless, and most outlaw programs laugh at their overall ineptitude. Yet, I still really really hope it isn't us.

For one, there is no VIDEO evidence. There was a picture of Bruce Pearl and Aaron Craft and Josh Shelby at Bruce Pearl's house.

Secondly, they are still going through the process. It doesnt happen overnight but the affect takes place immediately. The letter of allegations was just released recently. They now have to answer to the NCAA and penalties will be handed out accordingly. The general consensus in the area is that Bruce Pearl will be suspended for at least a year.

I heard Notre Dame is busted because they recruited players, and gave them an education in return for the participation in the football program. Huge investigation going on right now....apparently its been confirmed on multiple accounts on the football team. Further investigation shows this practice has been going on at Notre Dame for years and years.
TDHeysus-best funniest and cutest quote of the year-I wish I would have said that. Nice.

Thanks for the clarification. I always was under the impression there was video of him.

For the record, Oregon is not the school we have heard connected to these rumors. Nor is it Auburn. Nor will we mention the school’s name we’ve heard floated around as it’s not been remotely confirmed.

Top 10 per last Coaches Poll

1 Auburn - NO
2 TCU
3 Oregon - NO
4 Stanford
5 Ohio State
6 Oklahoma
7 Boise St
8 Wisconsin
8 LSU
10 Oklahoma St

Stanford would still be the stunner from that list. Was it simply Harbaugh's persausion?

TCU would be no stranger to NCAA probation. Their football team got a 3 year sentence in the last 80's for cash from boosters to players AND recruits. Their track program was nailed for a 2 year sentence in '05.

Boise St didn't seem to be pulling recruits from other schools. Their classes were lightly regarded by the recruiting services.

Cowherd's marketing team has made huge suckers out of this site. Never herd of him until this site. Good marketing.

I bet we still keep getting his name mentioned on here.

OK, I'll play... Annapolis gets a major sanction.

Cowheard is taking the same info this board chewed over and is speculating for the good of his show...

he can't talk about until ESPN does??? Doesn't he represent ESPN?? please... if that were the case then everyone at ESPN is in the know and just won't run with it... that tells me one of two things... it's (Cowheard's comments) complete B.S. and ESPN is dealing with the same info we are... or ESPN is sitting on what could be the cfb story of the decade (ND major scandal) for no good reason or because they know the sources may not be legit... if they had something on ND it would leak in a matter of minutes... period. I guess a third option would be it's not as big as he is making it and tying it to ND as long as possible helps his ratings...

oh, and btw, if this turns out to be legit.... it's Texas

I doubt it's Texas.......Mack Brown is too good a recruiter and Texas is such prime recruiting grounds that it doesn't need to pay kids. As a matter a fact, Texas is so highly regarded by these kids here, that some would be willing to pay to be on the football team. It's the main reason that they are done recruiting by May.

Assuming Cowherd is 'in the know' it has to be Stanford. With Oregon eliminated, the only other "shocker" of a rival to USC in the top-10 would be the trees. That would be right up there with it actually being ND. To be honest, I would rather have this be total BS than for it to be Stanford. Last thing we need is another reason for prospective recruits to think it's impossible to be an elite academic school AND nationally relevant in football without cheating. Believe it or not, I believe it turning out to be Stanford very well could affect ND...

As a trivial point of observation: we [ND] couldn't even think of a way to get Aaron Lynch a new pair of dress shoes for his size 17 feet. This despite probably several hundred of us wishing that we could. Boy, if it's ND we are not very good at it.

I'm going with..... The University of Akron! They just went to their second straight National Championship in Men's Soccer and won it this year. It's gotta be them. Right? Oops, wrong football.

Love the heard. Guy tells it like it is. Most of you probably don't like him because he graduated from USC.

Great host and has a great show.

Now, as far as what team committed these violations? Could be anyone. I'll go with Oregon.

Who wants to bet that, if it wasn't the offseason...the long dark offseason this thread wouldn't exist.

Agreed. I couldn't stand Cowherd when I first started listening to him. He constantly bashes on ND & Redskins so that doesn't help matters with me either. However, he grew on me and is a very intelligent host who teaches me something everytime I get the opportunity to tune in.

True. It's crazy down here. I doubt the horns have to beg/bride anyone to play here. Besides, this is the best high school football in the country. No shortage of talent.

A fellow Skins/ND fan?? Good to know somebody else carries that cross......But I live in TX. I'm suprised i'm still alive. HAHAHAHAH!

Colin is great. Yeah, he's brash, but I like that. And I didn't know he was a USC grad till like the 3rd year I listened to him. Keeps the homerism at a minimum.

I just threw up in my mouth a little. I would describe him in completely opposite terms. The lack of intelligence and utter absurdity of most of the things that I hear on this guy's show are dumbfounding. Granted, I cannot listen for more than a minute and a half, but that is only because the urge to punch myself in the face becomes so unbearable that I have to change the channel. I find that after every unfortunate instance in which I accidentally tune into the show I know a little bit less about whatever he happened to be talking about, as well as sports and life in general.

None of this has anything to do with the fact that he went to USC. First, I didn't even know that. And second, I don't really care about that. I love ND football but I don't judge people because they went to a school that is football rivals with Notre Dame. This has far more to do with the fact that I have a moral or intellectual objection to everything I have ever heard the man say.

I think he is a low-brow shock jock and an idiot of the highest order.

I'm a Skins fan in Eagles country so I can relate. I was at the Skins v Packers game this year. It's games like that, that I choose to think about instead of the majority of ones that they lose.

So you don't listen to him, didn't really give us a reason why you don't....But he "is a low-brow shock jock and an idiot"? How would you know that if you don't listen to him for more than 5 mins?? Herd is great. And not a shock jock AT ALL. Guy is very imformative and gives a different perspective on things. You may not agree with his point of view, but he makes great points and is rarely off target.

FIRE JOE MORGAN: 12 Minutes of Hell, With Colin Cowherd

He takes the least popular approach and backs it to push against the grain. To say that his analysis is rarely ever wrong is kind of off target. You're certainly entitled to like him, but the idea that he is really up there with analysis is off base. Sure he's not off on every topic, but enough.

Anyone who likes Colin Cowherd probably also thinks Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, and Keith Olbermann give top notch political analysis. These guys are all pundits just trying to say outlandish things to get you to listen; "shock jock" is about the best description I can think of. Kudos to whoever just posted that.
