Nobody can take much away from such ratings [even after a season is over] but what you can say is that if someone made such a list, then they're really good and they have respect. In that vein, congratulations to Big Mike, Manti, and Harrison.

Floyd will be the lynchpin of our offense this year, defenses will scheme around him, which is why i predict him to have an on par year, but for another receiver (Theo, Devaris?) to have a big year

Wasn't Theo moved to RB? But I also hope that Devaris or Massa or Atkinsons will be a big contributor.

No, Brian Kelly mused about it at a press conference and everyone considered it a done deal. Don't hold your breath waiting to see Theo moved out of the slot.

Pretty awesome to see that. I have always liked Floyd. If only Rudolph would have stayed that would be a deadly combo next year. But I have faith in Eifert.

I think we'll do fine without Rudolph. No doubt we'll miss his experience and leadership but Eifert is gonna be great and than we have the number 1 TE in the country coming in as well to make sure Eifert is going to be great!

I think Theo would make a better running back in Kelly's offense compared to Weis's.

This being said,

I'd still like to see theo at WR.

I like Teo at 17 and next year in the top 5 and Heisman contention. I said 2 years ago he will be the first true defensive player invited to the ceremony in 40 years. He may win it if the stars align correctly and Notre Dame wins games in a big way. The sportswriters may be ready for this -- we will see.

Very significant difference in how Smith looked and performed between 2009 and 2010

Suh was a finalist. And there's absolutely no chance that Te'o will win the Heisman.

A la Theo at RB: the way to "think Kelly" about that would be a Leprechaun package. The only way it happens otherwise [my opinion] is if we have a couple of disastrous injuries [since we're just 4-deep there.] Even then, AIII could be used as an RB along with the two Cams.

Re: Manti. I'll be delighted with a Butkus for Manti. I'll bet he would be too. A large number of football people I heard talk thought Suh was the best player in the nation two years ago and he did not win. It's hard to get the glory if you're not a glory boy.

This is from Bleacher Report, of course, which has no credibility.

The OP stated as much. It's a nice article that serves as a fun read. Bleacher Report is a cool website that gives fans the chance to voice their opinion, chill out a little.

The only thing that has ever held Floyd back from the being the premier receiver in cfb is his body. Here's hoping we see 13 full games from him this year, we'll need him.

Not to get off track too much, but Gerhart was a better running back as well.

Check out Alex Welch. He is doing well. He is from the same high school as Rudolph (St. X). Insiders are saying that he is ahead of Kyle in development, PLUS he has had an extra year to develop!

Looking at that list, there are like 5 defensive players from North Carolina. Where are they all coming from, Carolina just keeps on producing defensive studs.

Yeh, thanks I forgot about Suh-and there probably was someone else down thru the years that has gotten away from me. Maybe Entman/Browner. But I do think the day may be approaching where a defensive guy is going to win this award. Everything goes in circles and politically correct trends and Teo/Notre Dame could be the case. It would take a great yr by the team and a push from the AD Dept but the one constant is how Teo is going to play. He's already the face of the team. At the very least I'd like to see him at the ceremony. Fine representation of a college athlete.

I am also really high on Alex Welch. He seems to be placed behind Koyack and Eifert in every discussion and maybe rightfully so but I am very high on Welch. To have a three deep of Eifert, Welch, and Koyack is very impressive and should stack up against any in the country.

By almost any measure we have [potentially: i.e. assuming a QB to get them the ball] the outstanding receiving corps in the country. Floyd/Riddick/TJJones/Eifert, backed by Goodman/Toma/Smith/Ragone, backed by Daniels/Atkinson/Welch/Koyack. L-O-A-D-E-D. Wanted: avid Gunslingers!!!

Where do we check out Alex Welch? Eifert got a lot of PT in '10 as did Koyack in HS. We didn't get to see Welch. Yes he has had the extra year of development but until Sping Ball all we have had is a few brief words of mention about his abilities. As I recall it was Rudolph as a freshman that sent Reuland looking for a new team. And Reuland has 2 years of college development over Rudolph.

Who are the "insiders" you menition?

Coach D?
Prister?
Somebody down the hall in the same dorm?

Did they actually see him play or are they just speculating?

But then again we really do not know much about Koyack except for tapes and articles we have seen. Alex Welch could very well be better than Koyack and vice versa but there is no way we can know.

I saw Koyack on TV this year (in HS as I noted). I saw Eifert bouncing back from a major back injury and stepping in admireably for Rudolph. I saw nothing of Welch. No tapes nor articles which was why I noted we'll have to wait unitl Spring Ball to see.

I don't know whose is better and I don't think anyone outside of the coaching staff does either. Hence the inquiry about who are the "insiders".

IF Mike Ragone's knees are healthy, he's probably the best TE on the team. But until I see him running in Spring Ball like he did when he tracked down the DB from behind and I see him hanging on to more passes, I won't make that claim. I'd love to see him go out on a high note, playing to the expectations of 5 years ago.

Love Te'o, but I don't think he's a finalist for the Heisman. That's going a little too far. Defensive player hasn't won it since 97 and I don't think a LB has never won. Now if you said he'd win the Nagurski or Butkus...I'd have to say he has a great chance.
