16 would be a nice preseason ranking, but I think that's a little higher than we will be, but we'll see.

The Early Top 25
8. (4) Stanford (12-1, 8-1) The talent is there, but I worry about life after Harbaugh.
10. (36) U.S.C. (8-5, 5-4) Year two under Kiffin will yield a dynamic offense.
Also Receiving Imaginary Votes
30. (27) Air Force (9-4, 5-3)
31. (14) Michigan State (11-2, 7-1)
32. (40) Pittsburgh (8-5, 5-2)
35. (39) South Florida (8-5, 3-4)

16. (30) Notre Dame (8-5, 0-0)
Brian Kelly will have this team playing terrific football.

Six ND opponents made his list. Those that didn't are: UM, PU, Navy, WF, UMD, BC.

IF ND finds a stable QB this Spring, that table is runnable.

I would rather see ND start out in the 20-25 range, ranked, but not over-inflated. You can ascend the rankings quite easily if you start in them, so I'd like to see a safe spot near the bottom for starters.

this!!

I would rather start the seasons either unranked, or 20-25.
#1-#5 get upset constantly, college football has more parody now than ever, so if we just take care of ours, I feel like the rankings will work themselves out over the course of the season.

I would rather see ND start ranked number 1 in the country despite nothing to back that ranking just to p1ss off and urk SEC fans...

then have us win every single last game on controversial plays and or calls that favor us every single time (again, just to get under the skin of bama and vols fans...)

have us go 12-0 VERY unconvincingly... play bama in the title game... see them get to the boiling point when pundits pick us to beat them...

and then sh1t stomp the living hell out of them in the title game... raising the suicide hotline call rate for that area by 300 percent...

but that's just me.

I think it behooves ND to start #26-30 (outside of the top 25). ND will quickly gain ground as the wins pile up. I think if you have a good team, and start the season in the top32 you have a great shot to end up in the top10(top5) at the end of the season.

Another reason is that if ND starts in the top25, expectations will go thru the roof, and that isnt what the players need at this point. They need to have another year like last year, when they ended the season a better team than they were at the start of the season. Then in 2012, I think the team will be better equipped to handle the massive expectations that would come with ND being a top15 school.

... college football has more parody now than ever ...

While there may be a good bit of parody on this and other boards, I'm not sure that true parity has been achieved in college football. Nor should it be. The Ivy League has opted for academics over football prowess. Their games and rivalries are good fun but I don't expect to see Dartmouth in the top ten in my lifetime. I'll take ND, Stanford, Northwestern and other schools that straddle the fence anytime.

Sorry for the "comeuppance" (no offense intended – I hope none is taken), but I care about fundamentals in both football and language.

One must remember, that in being the lib-hippie-douche that he is (no offense intended dshans...lol) dshans does love to fluminate when possible. Understand elucidation occurs even on a dog's a$$ at times and dshans does seem to rather enjoy the opportunity elucidate any grammatical faux pas.

The good news is now you know that you should have used the word "parity" rather than 'parody'.

(sorry, I had to take a day off and I find I'm now rather bored.)

Sir dshans, you should be kinder to ACamp and FL. Once upon a time in the life of St. Joseph of Arimathea, he was working for the Romans at a Cornish tin-mine, where they were using a wooden box flume to carry waste water away from the works. He was going on a bit too long about British lack of proper safety measures, when an exasperated miner threw him down the flume ending up 150 feet below in the English [then British] Channel. He remarked that "he had never been so fluminated in his life". Can you REALLY be sure that this is not what the honorable ACamp meant?? I write only in hopes of elucidating a response.

And risk having them poison trees on our campus in retaliation?? No way!

Your comment, kind sir, leaves me flummoxed but in awe of your recollection of all things archaic. I shall take your counsel forever hence.
