Very good read.

Though I would prefer the attention about NDs resurgence to be a little more subdued it still feels good to be an Irish fan.

There will come a time under this coach that the nation will see the lure and pull of a great Notre Dame football team. When Notre Dame wins it is like no other place. The young men who are fortunate enough to part of this experience will be very happy they chose NOTRE DAME.

Get use to it.

ND is finally back on track.

Waited 21 years and it is our time again.

And someone else in Alabama just oversigned another recruit. I would love if SI pushed that fact in every article they wrote about College FBall. Chances of winning increase when you have 115 athletes in a rolling 4 yr period to choose from. Frauds.

(In a story that has already become legend in South Bend, defensive coordinator Bob Diaco showed up at Williams' home at 4:30 a.m. on a Friday to talk him out of taking an official visit to State College.)

"Sure, Notre Dame had its share of Top 10 classes under Charlie Weis, too. Brady Quinn, Jeff Samardzija, Jimmy Clausen, Michael Floyd and Rudolph were all considered top-shelf recruits. But all played on offense."

? Weren't Quinn and Shark Ty's recruits ?

Yea...Crists injury wasn't an ACL either...he had some misses on facts, but the article was generally favorable...so I give him a pass

Agree, just nit-picking. I liked the article, and LOVE how it fuels the Anti-ND hate machine nationwide. Hopefully the gauntlet that was just thrown down can be backed up with 9-10 wins and a big boy bowl game to shut those people up.

Why the pessimism? 9 or 10 wins?
We won eight with an offense that didn't know what it was doing for most of the season and a terrible defense that couldn't find its hind end for six oR seven games.
Will the defense be better next season? I think we all agree it will be much better and has a chance to be spectacular for the foreseeable future.
Will the offense be better? I think a lot better; and if the QB situation sorts itself out, it might be spectacular also.
IMHO, if the injury bug doesn't return, we are a lock for 12+ wins. The defense gets us two more and the offense gets us two more. Especially if we can solve the H.......g issue.
(Saying THAT WORD is like saying shank in golf.) I will never say it again.

In all honesty, 9-10 wins is beyond my wildest expectations right now. This team has underachieved so much recently, I want them to put up in order for me shut me up.

What are they going to do about the hamstring problem? Seems really an issue with multiple players going down because of it.

(don't know what the H.......g word is :/)

ps OMG this is my 666 post! :O :O

Well, extreme day-dreaming on the coming season isn't completely insane. Last year's defense at the end of the season was close to top 15 and should be very good this coming year if two things happen; a].No critical injuries especially to the corners; and b]. solution to the drop linebacker problem.[ replacing Neal]. If those two things happen, defense will be kickass.

Offensively, we have an absolute LOAD on the offensive line and receiving corps as to starters. If Cierre is THE ANSWER as a lot of folks think he is, then the only thing holding ND back is QB functionality. That's huge of course, and FAR unproven. One could claim sanity as to anything from 8-5 to 12-1 depending upon how much Kool-Aid you want to drink about the QB situation. Almost everything else about this team, including special teams, should be VERY good.

I thought you were kidding with the "don't know what the H.......g word is" line when you used the word in the previous sentence.

Actually, I didn't know what he was talking about, either, but when you brought up hamstrings the light bulb went off.

I'm not trying to be ****, but seriously, it didn't occur to you that that was what he was talking about as you were typing?

Had I known this article had already had a thread, would've posted my thoughts here! Too slow outta the blocks, I guess....Anyway...

My thoughts are this:

I think Brian Kelly will coach some of these guys better than Charlie Weis did," said Scout.com's Wallace. "He knows how to teach a college player better. He knows how to develop personnel at this level"

That is the single most important part about Brian Kelly coming to ND. We can get recruits. But Kelly is a guy that has had success at the college level in both coaching AND developing talent. Weis had some great talent, but he was terrible at development.
