...He is also close with Iowa wide receiver Keenan Davis who is also from Cedar Rapids. Plus, I believe his mother wants him close to home. While I hate to say it, I believe Iowa will get him.

Make no mistake guys...from everything I've read, Iowa is in the driver's seat, not ND. If we get him that will be fantastic, but the rumblings are that he stays in Iowa. And before you go ripping Iowa, they are a local school, they have an established coach, they want to put him at his favorite position, and sadly, they've been better than us many of these recent years...

While I agree with you... He was set to make that very decision a few weeks ago, then Kelly visited with Diaco and he decided to prolong his decision timeline and make it with his family during Thanksgiving break. I don't think we are in the lead, but it's neck and neck

I want this kid as much as anyone in the class, he's going to be a stud, he's just a physical specimen at this point and that's exactly the kind of player you can mold into crazy talent. We need to be all over him until he announces.

And after he announces, if he chooses Iowa that is, then we need to be all over him still. Hell, other schools do it to us, and we need to do it to them. Recruiting is a war (no disrespect intended to our soldiers) and we need to treat it as such...

Ferentz, Kelly and Kelly should enter the Thunderdome for his commitment. 3 men enter, one man leave.

Just sayin.'

I like our chances. We've all seen BK when he's mad. LOL

Ya just have him watch Dayne out there playing some quarterback, that seems to get his blood boiling.

*This is not a shot at Dayne, just saying that Kelly seems to get angry a lot when he is in and something goes wrong.

I like Kelly's chances against Chip, but Kirk has kind of an underlying serial killer look. Kinda like he's a devious, sadistic killer under that outer shell. I donno, I'm just saying don't look past Kirk.

Kelly's the consummate smiling blarney master. I'll take him on any flat playing field. He's everything from the friendly-next-door-neighbor to the heart-as-big-as-the-planet charity worker to the best-uncle-to-trust-your-kid-to. Doubt many Moms want to send their kid off with a serial killer.

Guys,
It really looks like this kid is conflicted on where to go. We all bash and joke around here about these kids, but please appreciate how difficult this decision can be for some kids.

Just imagine having your son trying to make up his mind, especially when one of the choices is the hometown school. He knows that if he chooses against the hometown fav, he will take grief every place he goes until he leaves for college.

This is NOT an easy decision. I would rather a kid takes his time and makes a good decision. None of us want him committing to ND, only to de-commit before NSD.

Good Luck Christian, we would love you in South Bend, but we know it is tough.

I must say that Iowa is in a tough spot going forward in the Big Ten. Today, they are the second fiddle in the conference. With the addition of Nebraska, they become the third fiddle. It is going to be a long, long time in between Iowa's future Big Ten Championships or any BCS invite. They now have to compete with big boys OSU, Nebraska, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin and UM. Things are getting deeper in the Big Ten and Iowa is going to all a rung on the ladder.

Good post. This has got to be an incredibly difficult decision for him. I am with you in that I want him to take his time (as I do with all recruits) and only make a decision when he is ready. We have all seen what happens when a kid commits to early and changes his mind later on down the line. I for one am glad this kid is taking his time. He will be solid with the school he chooses because he took his time in making the decision and balancing out the pros and cons to each of the programs. Best of luck to him!!! Take your time Christian and make the choice that is best for you.

And regardless of who he gives his verbal to on Dec 9th, it is still a long time from NSD...

I don't get whats so hard about it... ND Education > all. To me, now as a parent, is where I would be pushing this. Lets be real here.. If you have NFL aspirations, good for you. The fact is not many kids make it. If you have the talent, it will be evident no matter where you go.

ND is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. But it pays back for a lifetime as well.

That being said, I hope he takes his talents to South Bend. :devil_2:

He moved it to Thursday so that he can commit on ESPNU's recruiting insider. Im just kidding but thats the first thing that came to my mind because that show airs on Thursdays at 5.

All b.s aside, good luck to Christian and his family on a very tough decision. The ceiling on this kid is in the clouds. He is a freak athlete and I wish him the best on his decision and hope to see him in South Bend.
