Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh. Seriously, if he told people he was committing and then got cold feet... that is not a good sign.

It worked out well for us when D Daniels did it. Just sayin'...

We shouldn't get worked up about stuff like this. I want the kid to make a well thought out decision that he plans on following through with. If that decision is to attend Notre Dame, great. If not, then the best of luck to him. This constant need for immediate decisions of 17-18 year old kids from fans, recruiting sites, etc are why we have so many cases of kids committing, decommitting and then getting threads created to belittle them. Let's just wait and exhibit some patience for once, shall we?

If anything, Kelly's visit two weeks ago made him go back and think about his college choice. We can read into this a number of ways, but he was set to commit - kelly visited - and now he's taking some time to think about it.

I'm thinking this is a good thing.

Dude.., I could not agree with you more! We all want good news and instant gratification for sure..., but I would rather have a kid take his time and THINK about his decision before he makes it. We see it every single year all over the nation where alot of these kids commit early.., only to decommit later on in the process. I would love him to come to South Bend, however if he chooses another school then that is alright too. At least with this kid you can probably bet his decision will be final because he is taking his time inorder to make the best decision possible for him.

TT if your sequence of events is correct, I would think that sounds better for us. Like you said a number of ways to read it, but first blush in my head only is that was leaning elsewhere, talked to BK, decided to re-think his elsewhere lean

Note: This is my speculation only and only from info on this site. I would never begin to think I have any idea what goes on in a 17 year old's mind today. Other than girls, I couldn't tell you what else went thru mine back then...and I was a clumsy stick figure with zero athletic ability.

I hope we have shown him enough on the field to convince him that we are moving in the right direction. Iowa has continued to drop off over the last few weeks but Im not sure how much stock he is putting in on the field performance. Im really excited about this kid and I think he would bring a lot of athletic ability to whatever position he landed in. We could really use some good news after these last few weeks.

who is recruiting him as defensive end because i thought we were recruiting him as olb or safety I dont think he would be fit the mold for our DE but we were the only school recruiting him on defense right

We are recruiting him as an OLB. We recently visited and said we would try him at WR if he wanted. We'll see where things shake out shortly. He wanted to make a decision with his whole family. Hence the Thanksgiving timeline.

Per the article:

"The 6-foot-6 senior 'athlete' is still considering three schools: Notre Dame, Iowa and Oregon."

Wishful thinking time:

The fact that ND is listed first could mean that it was listed first when French spoke about his final three (otherwise the reporter, being from Iowa, would have said Iowa first or put them in alphabetical order). If French listed ND first it was probably because, either consciously or subconsciously, he favors ND the most.

Obviously wishful thinking but we need some good recruiting news...

quote:

Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Christian French said Sunday night he plans on having a press conference next week to announce where he will play college football. The 6-foot-6 senior “athlete” is still considering three schools: Notre Dame, Iowa and Oregon.

“Originally, I thought I’d have it done by now,” French said. “But I’m taking my time, thinking hard about it.”

French said he decided to wait until next week to announce his decision because this is a holiday week and school isn’t in session. He is being recruited as a defensive end, tight end and wide receiver.

This is exactly the kind of player we need right now. Guys like him will help us put an end to this whole lack of team speed thing.

Huge potential with this kid, we need him really badly right now. We need to a commit from someone to reverse the trend with our recruiting.

Make no mistake guys...from everything I've read, Iowa is in the driver's seat, not ND. If we get him that will be fantastic, but the rumblings are that he stays in Iowa. And before you go ripping Iowa, they are a local school, they have an established coach, they want to put him at his favorite position, and sadly, they've been better than us many of these recent years...
