I agree with you that Shinskie is not amazing but he is the best quarterback on the team. The fact of the matter is, your offense as a whole is terrible. I agree with you that your defense is stout and that is really the only way this game stays close. I expect it to be low scoring as well, but Boston College has failed to put up adequate points against some pretty lousy defenses this year.

Who are we to be judging another team's offense at this point? Our Line is struggling and our RB's are M.I.A......

I think he is better than Marscrovetra no doubt. I didn't think it could get worse than Shinskie last week but it did with him. We don't know what we have in a game situation with Rettig. This team has no chance for anything more than a 6-7 win season with Shinskie. Might as well give the kid the shot and get him a year of experience. He is the future. We'll see what happens. The weapons are there just no QB to get the ball to them. Watch Chris Pantele he has been very good this year. How have you guys looked haven't had a chance to catch a game yet.

Our offensive line has not performed as terrible as your leading on. We struggled against Stanford and their blitz packages but its something they weren't prepared for. As I stated earlier, its more so on the running backs and the quarterback. Dayne was unable to identify the blitz location to shift the protection.

As for how we've looked this season..... we are 1-3 so I cant say we've looked amazing. Theo Riddick has been a bright spot of late but we have continued to struggle on defense and Dayne needs to mature more. I want to say we are getting there but that seems to be a reoccuring theme. We have certainly had our struggles but there are bright spots.

Notre Dame is playing at Boston College, which has a first down with three minutes left in the half. A Boston College fan sets off a firecracker, and Notre Dame, thinking it’s the end of the half, runs off the field.

Three plays later, Boston College punts.

One of my former students (I taught him when he was in 3rd grade, then I coached him in flag football when he was in 8th grade) is now starting the JV QB and the back-up varsity QB at his high school. He's a 5'8" sophomore who can run and throw...but he's 5'8" and both myself and his dad have told him he'd be a much better RB or DB. But he wants to play QB and the coaches like him there.

Anyways, the QB playing in front of him is 6'4" and also a sophomore. His last name? Rettig...Chase's little bro. He's a beast. I'm definitely going to check him out this year to see how good he really is (his high school is 4-0 so far)...

EDIT: I guaranteed a victory over BC...but I honestly haven't paid enough attention to them. They've had horrible QB play and yet they are STILL favored over us??? Holy shiznitt, if we lose to them this season will be the season from hell. Gotta stick with my prediction though...this win gives us confidence and propels us to a win vs. Pitt and a 6-3 start.

I can't see this team losing four straight... nor can I see them losing to BC...

and I was Mr. pessimist heading into this season... we win this one and have a battle with Pitt... time to pull out some games here and get on a roll

They have to win this game for the season, plain and simple in my estimation. It might be on the road against a team that really hates ND, but there is no way ND should lose to BC. Our defense has played well enough, and BC about to break in a new QB. Load the box and make them beat us with throws. Offensively, we should be able to score, maybe not at will, but we should have plenty more than the Eagles. If they don't pull this off, I'll open myself to more questioning of Kelly, because a loss to BC with these circumstances should not happen.

This is the only game I have ever gone to and when I did It was an automatic win and everyone knew it I just don't understand why we can't get back to that!! I remember moving down and getting to sit where we wanted people left early in the 4th b/c of a blow out!!

That is what I'm going with. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dont worry boys, our losing streak will end against Western I think.

27-10 ND wins. I think the D has a decent game, and we don't make too many mistakes on offense this week. Wishful thinking I know, but hey..., we got to get better and win one of our games at some point and I for one do not want to wait until Western Michigan..., lol.

CBS still says Notre Dame one of the Elite eight teams in the country

CBS still says Notre Dame one of the Elite eight teams in the country

Something feels out of place right now. many national pundits are laying off the bash Notre Dame slant. I cant figure out if its just that the team is down and there is no story or they know something. Its interesting that even on the CBS college football show/Tony Branhardt show they seem to be resigned to the fact that Kelly will do this. Its really odd to see Notre Dame getting a little respect after getting smoked by Stanford. Its like they know something. Maybe its the recruits maybe its the coach but you get the feeling that this is going to turn. It has me confused even though I love Notre Dame I have'nt seen this in a long long time. Maybe CBS wants the football package. Maybe guys like Manti Teo/Rudolph/Allen/Calabrese/D line are showing such heart they cant help but notice a change. Whatever it is -IT- is certainly there.

We're going to kick Boston College's ***. No question.

Rettig had impressive tape, but he was a three-star on both Scout and Rivals.

All we need to do is load the box to stop Montel Harris. We'll play press (of which we did a pretty decent job last week against Stanford) and force Rettig to beat us through the air.

They lost 19-0 to Virginia Tech. They were out for blood and they lost 19-0. Virginia Tech boards were in meltdown at how ****ty they looked last Saturday en route to that 19-0 victory. Tyrod Taylor, not exactly known for throwing all over the field, had 241 yards through the air.

We win, and big.

They do know something: If ND becomes irrelevant (which I argue it already has) it's bad for college football. If ND falls off the radar it would cost college football a lot of fans--ND fans. Plus, these shows need ratings and in this day and age people are more interested in watching news, sports related programming or television in general that arouses their ire--whether it's because some bloviator is, in their opinion, spouting ridiculous crap or because, in their opinion, they agree with the bloviator and feel enraged at the wrongs being done to them. As I said, sports is no different: some guy says ND is a top 8 program and he's got Irish fans tuning in because they want to drink the koolaid and Irish haters tuning in so they have somebody to hate.

Personally, I think it's low brow but I listen to every word Mark May says because I must, on some level, enjoy getting pissed. Easier to hate that smarmy prick when ND loses than it is to be pissed at the players!

I don't think the game will be on here in Nashville, TN either. Go figure. Just my luck. I guess the slow start out of the gates, and a few other night games on and we will be watching something else down here too. Guess I will be glued to the computer during the game. I was hoping to enjoy some beer and kick back and watch the game.

Mgriff I feel you brother..., I just confirmed the football listings here in Nashville with our COMCAST and they are showing the Stanford game and the USC game here. And of course they will show the Florida game. No Notre Dame this weekend down here.
