Now before everyone starts hating on me, I would like to think I am somewhat of a reputable poster. I rarely make threads unless I think I have a good point.

The way we played against Purdue on offense was great at times, and sloppy also. The one thing I loved about our D is that we were swarming around the ball.

Denard Robinson looked so good is was scary. I honestly thought he was a spaz as a backup last year to Tate Forcier. But watching him command that team and make those crisp passes against a UCONN team who beat us last year scares me.

We could not stop the bootleg scramble against Purdue, with a guy like Denard running against us makes problems IMO.

The only way we stay in this game this year is if Dayne stays smart and we make some plays down field, and we need Michael Floyd to STEP UP! I mean really step up.

I just don't have a good feeling about this game, and I will be there :(

Please move Filer up the depth chart...

Please move Filer up the depth chart...

I have watched that Marve td over and over (well I can't sleep tonight so what else would I be doing). I don't know what Brian Smith thought he was doing by running up Kapron's butt like that. Honestly I like Smith he is a great person and I thought 2 years ago he was destined for something special, but I would not trust him to contain Dennard Robinson. Kerry Neal is also a quality guy but both he and Smith seem to be a step too slow or take the wrong angle too often for seniors who should be at the top of their game. Am I crazy to say that Steve Filer is clearly the guy we need on the edge? He is faster and more athletic than our other options and to stop Robinson we need to match Michigan athletic freak on athletic freak. Against a less scary qb Smith and Neal bring a lot to the table, but this week I believe I will definitely high five whomever is available if I see Steve Filer starting.

Ya we might get blown out or we might win by 20. I know the 2nd half scared some of you but how many games has robinson done that oh ya 1 relax guys they have to stop us too. Which means stopping floyd(who must have something to prove now)rudolf and I cant believe I'm saying this our running game. I have a feeling honestly Kelly held alot out of the game offense wise . Well its true it could happen Robinson could run all over us or Manti could knock him to the sidelines first play . The funny thing is if Floyd hadn't fumbled the people who are all scared would be saying national champions . Relax we have a good team here with Talent to beat Michigan. Believe boys believe

I like how a couple of weeks ago everyone on here had us putting a beat down on Michigan, now were getting blowed out. They have played one game and now Robinson is the next Vick. I believe Kelly and company will game plan well for them. We have a lot more talent than Uconn. If we lose it wont be a blowout.

And we may blow out Michigan. Remember this team has just as many question marks as us. I wouldn't take a pounding of UConn too seriously. Look at all the so called "Big Time" programs that played cream-puffs last week. We actually opened against a decent team. I know they lost some people from last year, but they still have a great D-Line, and a solid overall defense. That we were able to move the ball frequently (especially on the ground) with an unproven new QB, and a new offensive philosophy shows me something. I feel this offense will get even better as the season progresses, and BK opens the playbook up even more. Whether or not that translated to wins remains to be seen, however.

we will not get blown out by michigan. if anyone watched the uconn mihgan game then u seen just bad ucon played. they dropped lot of passes and looked like they could not block anyone on offence line to be able to run the ball. on d they were worse by not tackling and not covering anyone.

nd played a good team ans they will surprise alot of teams this year with that damn rollout pass or run with marve.

I like our chances of playing even better next week more than I like Michigan's chances of playing as well as they did against a UConn side I thought was really being over hyped coming into this season.

Its VERY possible that Michian blows us out. They have done it before. I actually have Michigan as 1 of our losses BUT I also said Purdue would beat us.

Keep in mind too that Uconn had their 2 starting defensive ends injured in the offseason that did not play that game. So if they had those guys playing, I think it would have been a bit closer.

You guys are forgetting something very important: CHARLIE WEIS IS NOT THE COACH ANYMORE.

BRIAN KELLY IS THE COACH.

Ok, glad we cleared that up. We will not get blown out. If anything it will be a shoot out. Everyone who is scared needs to educate themselves and watch the Michigan UConn replay on espn.

That is all.

Its gunna be a shootout, whoever puts up more points will win, i just hope that we do a few things extra (special teams, run game) and put a bit of defense on DR and we can win it.

I doubt its going to be a blowout homefield makes a huge difference Michigan usually plays well in the big house and ND usuallly plays better at the house that rockne built.. Im nervous but dont have an epileptic sesiure about this

Plus BK knows Rich Rod... when he brought WVU to cincy in 07 BK led them to a near comeback win and that was with UC in a stadium that holds 35,000 people

I think we should keep in mind that while Robinson did complete 19/22 pass attempts, he only averaged 9.8 yards/completion. There's no reason he should beat us with his arm. Marve was 31/42 and the D only allowed 10 points. I really think containment is going to be key with D Rob. He's going to get his yards on the ground and our OLB's need to not overpursue (see Brian Smith).

Also, Michigan is working with a veryyy thin secondary and we have enough playmakers on the outside to exploit that weakness. Sure they could blow us out, but I could see us very easily hanging 40+ on their D.

On a side note, Michigan set a new attendance record of 113,000 at the Big House on Saturday. In other news, the Guinness Book of World Records declared this the largest gathering of dumbasses in the world.

It took me a solid two days of thinking about this game to come up with a most-probable scenario. The Denard Robinson Show on Saturday originally had me thinking we were screwed. Purdue made their only good plays rolling the pocket... and Robinson is a heck of a lot faster than Marve. However, then I sat down and really watched the Michigan vs. UConn game and I think most of the panic everyone has now is unwarranted. Here are some points that put the UConn game in perspective:

1) The success Michigan had is much more predicated on their defense shutting down UConn than their offense putting up those 30 points. Everyone knows that Big East tames CANNOT stop the run... they simply don't have the size or speed or schemes to do it. So Denard Robinson being able to slice up the Husky D is not scary for the same reason Dion Lewis carving up weak Big East defenses is not scary. If he can continue to throw consistently well then I will be scared but right now he is just a slightly worse version of Pat White.

2) The reason why the 3-3-5 worked exceptionally well against UConn is because UConn is a team built on the run. The 3-3-5 is almost more of a 3-5-3 when you really look at the personnel. That scheme, with more speed than size in that middle 5, is perfect for stopping a running game like UConn's but potentially horrible against the pass. That is why UConn tried to throw it a whopping 38 times against Michigan. If they had a better passing attack and WR corp I'm sure they would have completed more than 18 of 38 passes and turned those 343 yards of total offense into more than 10 points.

3) This all relates to the ND game because no one expects us to shut out Michigan. Everyone's pre-season optimism rested on the premise that we would score a ton of points on their defense. Frankly, I expect Michigan to score 17-27 points on us... but I also expect our WRs/TEs to give their 3-3-5 nightmares. Their LB/S hybrids that were great in run support against UConn will get obliterated by our TEs when we run the ball and will struggle to cover them in passing downs. Our WRs will man-handle their DBs when we try to run and will have a TON of 1-on-1 or soft one coverage to work against on the outside. As long as Crist shows up to play and misses less throws than he did last week Floyd and TJ should be able to exploit their D on the perimeter with Wood/Allen gashing them right up the middle. In essence, if you believe our offense is better than UConn's then you should still be optimistic about next Saturday because there is NO WAY our defense is worse than the Huskies.

I feel like this will be a close game determined by who makes the fewest mistakes/turnover. Right now I'll predict ND 31 UM 27.

After which game do we take our skirts off and starting believing? Seriously, it's ok to be cynical and not predict a 51-10 kind of victory, but to be worried about getting blown out or getting eaten alive by a QB with 1 good game under his belt is a little too safe for me. As much as I believe we kept it real vanilla on offense, I think we have some wrinkles for the defense as well.

I'd prefer to be the guy that drinks a bit too much kool-aid. MMmmm...kool-aid.

Does anyone realize that the Purdue game is a blowout if Floyd doesn't fumble on the one?

I think the coach can prepare the Irish for Michigan. They just have to execute. The defense needs to wrap up when they tackle. Don't forget about a linebacker named Teo. He just might show up large!

Actually, that is less likely than losing to Michigan. The sun lacks the mass, it will become a red giant. WikiAnswers - Will our Sun become a Supernova
And Robinson lacks mass, and will get pounded on by KLM and injured. With any luck. I just watched his spring game video, and I'm not confident at all about stopping DR. Yikes.

Chandrasekhar like Rodriquez made his mark with degenerate matter but neither of them factored in Floyd, Rudolph, Jones, and Crist reaching critical mass in the weasel secondary.

Heisenberg knew with certainity that Michigan Sucks and this thread starter needs to grow a pair.

BGIF--HILARIOUS,and I'm with you big fella. The only way we get blown out would be if Crist malfunctions so badly the game becomes a gift. With Kelly at the wheel THAT ain't happening. And as has been said elsewhere, one clutched ball by Floyd, and one conscious contain by Smith, and one non-brainlock on a safety, and ND wins 30-3 at a minimum. ---- This is not to say that Michigan won't be a struggle; we'd be stupid to assume that it's not war. The one thing I'd like to know from you smart fellows which I haven't located elsewhere on the site: how's our injury report from the game? Michigan lost another valuable guy, and maybe a second one.

I just love how Michigan has one good game and there great. We can go 8-0 and people question if we are for real. We may not stop Denard, but Michigan has to prove to me they can stop us!
