I'm a little surprised that it's double digits. I would have suspected around 7-8 pts. considering it's the 1st game under a new set of coaches, new QB in a new offense, unproven defense overall, etc.

its funny because i was listening to Colin Cowherd, yeah i know not the best radio personality for sports radio. But he said he would easily take the under, because all the opponents need to do is double cover, now wait this is the best part, Michael Lloyd!!!

Then went on to say they have no other weapons besides Lloyd, i was just confused because i didn't know a Lloyd was on the team.

I sometimes wonder who pays some of these sports casters to talk or blog about stuff they clearly have no idea about. Frankly I would put the line at about 28. I think Kelly is going to hang one hard on Mr. Hope. First game, national game..

AOL Fanhouse had their Big10 predictions up for the weekend and had Michigan beating UConn 23-6 or something, because UConn has no offense? Huh? Also calling it 34-31 ND over Purdue.

I hope Kelly does really hang one on the Boilers. I always respected Weis' sense of sportsmanship, but he often took the foot off the gas pedal waaaaaaayyyyy too early. I can see easing up and not punching in the touchdown with a minute or so to play, but you don't change your style of play 5 minutes in to the third quarter.

Yes, Weis especially irritated me in 2008 the year after Navy won in 2007. They already had won the year before and he still treated it as if the game was over and Navy came back some and made it closer than it should. Dude made me so mad that year.

That's because they're not primarily trying to forecast games, but trying to forecast how their betting public will forecast games [i.e. they're trying to "split the bet"]. Because they know that ND fans are blue-sky crazier than most, the odds have to be higher in ND's favor as a general rule. You see this effect with other teams with large fanatical bases as well. To make money, find teams with little reputation and following, but who can kick ass, and bet on them. Statistically you'll win more than you lose. NDs eleven point spread may turn out to be true, but its size reflects the idea that lots of us are drinking green Kool-aid right now.

Yes and no. I used to think 100% along the lines you just presented, but after some research Notre Dame ATS (against the spread) isn't that abnormal.

Its all in how you look at it. Weis' drag coefficient was minus 7. Once you factor that in, its less than a TD spread.

Its not the first Crist pass, Floyd catch, nor Allen rush that I'm interested in seeing. I want to see Teo hand out some punishment. Then I'll know the nightmare is over.

You could've saved yourself a lot of caps and simply said "no, it is illegal to place sports bets anywhere but Vegas." I only asked because I received a direct mail today about betting online... and was curious if it was illegal how they could advertise like that. For instance, you can't advertise "Joe's Hitman Service" nor can you even advertise restricted products like cigarettes in media.

Gambling is legal outside of Vegas (eg: Atlantic City; Biloxi, MS; Detroit; Dubuque, IA; etc), but Sports Books are a different matter. I believe sports betting is only allowed in Lost Wages, NV.

Of course, there is off-shore betting, but youse takes yer chances.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, but I play one on TV. Staying at a Holiday Inn Express doesn't make you smarter... it's a marketing ploy (I found that out the hard way when I attempted Rhinoplasty on a Ceratotherium simum).

Why would I say "no, it is illegal to place sports bets anywhere but Vegas." I don't know where you live or where you intend to bet. I also don't want this site to be involved if you chose to. We live in a litigiousness society.

We get spam regularly. We get it from betting services among others. Spammers use search engines to locate targets. It takes times for mods to deal with it and remove the offending messages and ban the sender.

For what its worth, as of like Sept 2009, Delaware (Dover Downs) has sports books BUTTTTT...... they only allow 3 team parlays AAAAND its only for NFL games. Haha. what a joke.

I am almost positve I have never hit any sort of parlay in my life. It seems so easy to pick 3 games ATS.
