I’m going to this game. While I’ve attended two BYU-ND games in South Bend, I’m curious how their fans will be in Provo.

I could see this game being somewhat frustrating. They keep the ball on the ground, so they will chew some clock. And their D is actually really talented, so I could see them sticking around somewhat. I see like a 27-10 type win.

I always find it amusing that the schedule thing has morphed into "If they don't play anyone good, that somehow means they aren't very good."
I find it amusing that after all the “join a conference” crying from the likes of TTU, they don’t even play the purported toughest team in their conference but ND does.

My God that was tough to read. The fact that he tried to portray our OL as a weakness is laughable. I love that despite actual on-field production, the whole country still seems ignorant to Aneyas Williams. Guarantee that guy will have a chip on his shoulder and is excited to be a featured part of this offense after being patient.

Defense "should be as good as TTU".... buddy this might be the top unit in the country.

Yeah, the sleeping on AW is insane. You guys remember that time as a TRUE FRESHMAN, he was the 3rd down back on a team that had two future first round running backs on it?

Our offense does have a lot to prove. The engine that kept it moving has to be rebuilt.

Having said that, I'm not seeing a schedule that 'hardens' BYU before their game with ND:

BYUs schedule with SP+ rankings:
UTAH Tech - unranked (FCS)
Colorado St - 99
Arizona - 30
UCF - 60
Iowa State - 64
Kansas - 57
ND - 3

NDs Schedule:
Wisconsin - 61
Rice - 120
Michigan St - 67
Purdue - 82
North Carolina - 54
Stanford - 75
BYU - 18

Notre Dame will have played against similar competition according to initial SP+ rankings, which are merely a starting point for the season. I'm anxious for this season

This regular season is going to be a lot of teams fans thinking they are going to be the ones to beat the "overrated Irish" before getting steamrolled into dust.
Happens every year at this point. The lead up to the Pitt game last year their fans were putting in alternate spread picks of Pitt -10. It was a very fun day on twitter

It's a simple fact of these people are ignorant. They don't watch ND, don't recruit against ND, don't have a conference measuring stick for ND. They've listened to collective "ND is overrated" talk for decades under prior regimes and haven't adjusted to the fact that ND beats the fuck out of ranked teams under Freeman.

For example, they are using Texas Tech as the defensive comp for ND. TT has one (1) singular good season on defense in their history and won't hold a candle to ND's defense this year. They have maybe 2-3 dudes that could start for ND. BYU will be lucky to get to 14... they don't know that yet, but they will learn.

I can confirm this is the belief of a lot of BYU fans around here.

I'll second, it's been fun to listen to. Some know what's going on, others are pure vibes.

Can't wait to stand and cheer in a sea of blue

Last year, they couldn't get more than 7 in either game against TTU.

Anecdotal, I know, but the BYU fans at ND in 2012 were the most insufferable group I’ve ever been subjected to in ND Stadium. Just an execrable amalgamation of delusion, self-righteousness, disregard for personal space, lobotomized smiles, an apparent ignorance of birth control, etc. Sat behind Tyler Eiffert’s aunt and she was beside herself.

These folks not just believe, but organize their lives around, perhaps the dumbest shit ever put in writing—“chloroform in print” as Mark Twain famously described the doctrine. Is it any wonder their message board commenters have that kind of shit clanging around in their heads?

Really looking forward to this game.

If this is the aunt I think it is, I’m absolutely asking her about this next time I see her

If it is the same one, there’s a shot she’d remember the guy that flew in from Alaska, who was passing out green and white leis (for Manti).

Kind of like Edward Norton at the US World Cup game the other night.

Just coming here to point out that one of their better teams in recent years lost to Drew Pyne.
