I honestly wonder what the fee agreement looks like. By the hour would be kinda crazy for something like this, so I'm guessing flat fee. Either way, Sorsby might have to start betting again. Or stop betting.

TT is now forever linked to Sorsby with the shit they tried to pull. I'm so happy the NFL put their foot down. It shows how they view Texas Tech's association and repeated attempts to strongarm their way into approval. Everyone associated with that program is now tainted.

I don't usually understand legal smackdowns - I'm not smart enough. But that was a perfectly worded smackdown. Wow.

Btw, can we also mention that this kid's agents and attorneys are a joke. Is this the same idiot that complained on Twitter that Cincinnati wouldn't waive the transfer buyout even though they asked very nicely? Or was that another one of his idiot representatives?

One can only hope that Sorsby's bottom- feeding lawyers wind up taking him for all his money and he still gets nowhere.

Tbf, his attorney is basically the best sports attorney in America. Kessler isn't some hayseed.

I stand corrected - I looked him up and he argued the other major legislative cases for NIL and such. Kessler has credentials but he still won't get any relief from the NFLPA.

I looked up Sorsby's other reps, and he must be paying a boatload for all of these people. He had his NIL done through LIFT Sports Management and this guy Ron Slavin. He's the one who said Cincinnati should be catching heat in all of the gambling stuff. Sorsby also has separate lawyers who tried to argue the lawsuit to dismiss the $1 million buyout. Kid is paying lawyer fees out the ass - unless Texas Tech is paying for Kessler.

It wouldn't be about fighting for a nonmember, it would be about enforcing the CBA. Sorsby can't sue or seek arbitration based on a violation of the CBA as he isn't a party to the agreement, only the NFLPA has standing.

But there is nothing in the CBA that gives the NFLPA a say in a supplemental draft. The CBA gives the league the sole authority to decide whether or not to hold the supplemental draft and there is nothing that requires one be held just because someone says they want to be in it.

I suspect Kessler will explore other avenues here -- some quotes out there from him suggest that he feels the league was less than forthright about the process. I have a hard time seeing what legal theory could reasonably result in a win, though. And at this point, any win is going to be monetary, which means money out of his hoped-for employers' pockets.

Not only curious where he is getting the money to pay these guys, but where he got the money to make all of those large bets? I suppose the attorney may be doing it on a contingent basis?

No way his attorney is working on a contingent basis in a case like this. There are no damages sought or direct recovery to be had, and the chances of a positive outcome were not great to begin with.
