Party registration is a bit of a copout. There are a lot of "independents" who are rather reliable voters for one party or another. Basically the same as a girl in college calling herself bisexual because she kissed her friend at a party.

I don't know where you fall on the voting spectrum and not calling you out. Just stating an observation on the "independent" phenomenon.

Every member of the KKK could fit in my local civic center with room to spare. Same with the Proud Boys. Possibly both groups at the same time. Pearl clutching about these groups is very 2016 coded. I think that's why the SPLC (allegedly) got into the funding game. Their purpose (and donations) dry up unless the weirdos get riled up.

These groups have two choices - vote for a major party or don't. Me personally, I don't care who they vote for. They don't bring enough votes to change much of anything.They wield no real influence. They haven't for many decades. I'm sure some of the weirdo polygamist Mormon sects vote republican too. It's a low priority for me to worry about them. There are 330 million Americans. You'll find some goofy people.

Allegedly they were paying people to be informants, and that law enforcement (FBI) knew about it. If that's the case, it's rather risky, and certainly icky, but I guess fine-ish. Don't really like that.

If they were actually funding them, gross.

Personally, I vote all over the place. Libertarian for almost all Presidential elections I have been a voter for. State rep is a Republican, really good dude, I vote for him every time. Same thing for our State Senator, Republican. Governor of PA, i usually go Dem due to how awful the funding cuts for our public schools were under Corbett (basically my state voting record shows I cancel myself out in Harrisburg haha). Refuse to vote for our US Rep incumbent here because he doesn't even live in the district, and I think that is poor taste, so I vote Dem there. I also think McCormick is a slimeball of a human, and refuse to ever vote for him (Senator in PA). He's a carpetbagger who returned to his home state of Pennsylvania because he saw an opening with MAGA Trumpers.

You're certainly right that the KKK and Proud Boys aren't much of anything these days, good. My contention though is that these boomer Facebook memes are just laughable. As Blazers said, radicals on both sides. But the idea that the deep red Southern ideologies that are now very much MAGA Republicans weren't where deep pockets of racism was (regardless of party switches too actually) and that somehow the Republicans are still the party of Lincoln and anti-racism is laughable.

I prefer to focus on our current admin and DOJ not persecuting and prosecuting groups who legally demonstrate under their 1st Amendment right by similarly making up bullshit that they're ANTIFA radical leftist terror organizations. Now, that's noteworthy!

EDIT: I'm going to be generalizing here quite a bit but...

The Twin Cities basically attract all the weirdos from the Dakotas, Minnesota, and much of Wisconsin and Iowa (guessing Chicago attracts some). A lot of normies end up there for work and stuff too. But all the loons who have bad relationships with their parents or hate the town they grew up in because of religion or conservative politics end up in Minneapolis. Or artsy people. Not exactly a ton of opportunities in smaller places for that. They go to Minneapolis too.

This isn't uncommon. I think it happens nationally. Anyone reading this probably has a local city they are thinking of. But when people think of Minnesota they think of inoffensive and polite people with a funny accent and a lake cabin. Minneapolis is basically the only city there anyone has ever heard of. So I think people are inclined to associate Minneapolis with the "aw shucks" sweethearts from the movie Fargo. I am guilty of doing this with other places.

Minneapolis might as well be San Fran with bad weather and an inferiority complex about their liberal bona fides. "But NorthDakota, my aunt worked at 3M/BestBuy/Target corporate and she's normal!" Yes, Minneapolis has a lot of normies. It's a big city. These people don't cause trouble in Minneapolis or anywhere else. Minneapolis does have a ton of loons. The city collects commies and BLM types like nerds collecting trading cards. These people like to protest and "protest." Whether you think that's good, bad, justified, (insert term) is in the eye of the beholder. But Minneapolis being mellow? Absolutely not.

WNBA Commish was going to be on Dan Patrick this morning and at the last minute WNBA Media told DP they didn't think this was a good time to be on his show. lol

As Charles Barkley says of them, "Y'all petty! Y'all just petty!" They'd rather kill the goose laying the golden eggs than have a non black lesbian be the center of attention. She should take her talents to Europe and let the petty beasts go back to making chump change and flying commercial.
