“I’m here to talk about the upcoming season and the amazing team I’m privileged enough to call our players. At this current moment, my entire focus is running it back and winning a national championship in 2026, and it will remain there until the job is complete.”

Doesn’t seem difficult

Well there you go. MF is gone after this season.

Joking aside, I still have a gut instinct the MF wants to win two before he departs ND.

I honestly don't think we will blow out Wisconsin to bad because of the Fickell Freeman angle.. I just think Freeman is to classy for that
After this season MF will want to leave absolutely no doubt.

I'll say if Freeman didn't jump ship for:

LSU
AUB
FLA
NYG
STEELERS
RAVENS
PSU

I'm not worried about him leaving especially for the NFL, I would have to assume he will be at ND for a min of 3 more years. It doesn't make sense to pass on the Steelers/Giants/Ravens only to take the Bucs or Jets job next year. Even if we want to pretend he is a big Ohio guy....Cleveland is open. No way he passes all these top NFL jobs for a crusty one next year.

Freeman will be coaching Wisconsin game and Rappaport will be reporting he is leaving at halftime to go to the Jets
These guys are all a**clown grok spawns. Trolling to the max and doing anything they can to respawn their garbage.

I’m not as worried about the NFL honestly,… my biggest worry was all the extra admissions and academic stuff getting to him and it appears a lot of that just got solved.

Look at USC fan comments on this. There was a time when this would've bothered me, but it's so weird what taking the high road looks like in 2026.

I don't think enemies should enjoy the same grace as he shows others in and around the program but that's just me.

I will not be able to wait to beat them again.

The Steelers are a good organization to work for. But that roster stinks. I have to think there was a discussion where they said they were going to tear it down rather than try another patchwork year, Tomlin wasn't interested in it, and the organization made no effort to change his mind.
Not to mention they don't have a QB and have had one since Ben R.

If they stop backing him and stop giving him the support he needs to be successful, he'll leave. To this point, what we know for certain, is that he's getting backed more than any of his predecessors have been backed in the modern era of college football. He could have, undoubtedly, taken a path of less resistance and gone to LSU or Florida. He turned those opportunities down for good reason, and money was not going to be an issue for either of those program.

All this NFL talk is nice and it keeps people talking, gets clicks on websites and word salads on chats, but two coaches who were with their franchises for nearly 20 years each just left those respective positions. One of them never had a losing season. Coach Free seems like a smart enough guy. His journey to this point has surely taught him things and he's likely going to learn a lot more. With a young family, what's the best move for him right now? The NFL is unforgiving when it comes to head coaches. The day after the regular season ends is known as Black Monday. A couple of guys got fired before the season even ended. I think he is sincere when he says he still has work to do at ND, but I wonder how much interest he really has in the NFL right now and I question the level of interest the NFL has in him.

The hand wringing that he's going to leave after this season or that season or when Ryan Day leaves Buckturdtown just feels bizarre to me, but yeah, it's a message board. To each their own. Notre Dame isn't going anywhere. Hell, if anything, Notre Dame is BACK. The NFL isn't going anywhere other than Europe for more regular season games. You can choose to wake up every day as an ND fan and live with the notion that Marcus Freeman could leave today, tomorrow, next week. Carry on wayward sons. The focus should be on keeping the sheets dry because, let's face it, some of you need to focus on that; and crossing these bridges when we get there. Yes, there will come a day when Marcus Freeman leaves Notre Dame for whatever reason, but I personally believe that day is not coming any time soon.

Enjoy the ride while we're on it.

Gross.

He will have to sit there and be civil and polite around a bunch of dipshits who spent the last two months talking shit about ND. He doesn't strike me as the kind of person who will put any of them in their places. This might just end up creating new James Franklin memes as Coach Free just sits there and takes the abuse with a smile.
