I just flat out do not get how he has a job. At the HS where I coach if I did 10% of what I've heard this guy has done I would be fired. A coach "trash talking" opposing players / parents is fireable on its own.
For real. Where is this? New Prairie? I have no problem being the first one of us to be on the phone tomorrow as an upset community member asking about how a person like this has a job in the school system. I think he should be fired. Who is with me?

Brother, I'm also around wrestling coaches a lot. Most of them are basically overgrown children who have never learned any sort of emotional regulation. Many (not all) will basically act on every impulse during a match, from yelling at refs (typical of many sports), trash talking wrestlers, and screaming at other coaches from their corner of the mat. I've seen them throw foam challenge bricks like they are throwing a rock through a damn concrete wall.

For as much discipline as the sport requires, it often produces some weird ass adults (parents, former wrestlers, both).
Not sure where you live, but I have coached wrestling and football for 25 years and wrestling is an awesome community. Many times faith based. Good people looking to help each other and work hard. They love the sport because of the brotherhood, commitment, discipline, and hard work it instills. Wrestling is a beautiful sport.

I know the community well. Tight knit. That guy will mostly likely be fired.

The more local rumblings I am hearing is that the New Prairie coach could be after money.

Sorry if this was already posted also the New Prairie coach was messing with the Freeman family before, during and after the wrestling match.

Can’t see any other reason any of this happens. But guy’s gonna be lucky if he’s still drawing a paycheck by the end of the month.

I talked to someone who would know. Fleeger is/was upset Vinny didn’t transfer to that New Prairie. In general, he is an asshole. Vinny’s match was against a kid from Hanover Central. Fleeger had no business sticking his nose into the situation.

I thought this was obvious from the start.

I graduated from a school with the best prep wrestling program in the country. There is a very real segment of little wrestling dudes with short tempers, loud mouths, and clear Napoleon syndromes. Some of the most annoying, unlikeable people in the world. Sounds like this guy fits the description perfectly.

Yes, but...

The reason he is weighing in is in the title of this thread.

Dick Corbett is an ND grad, lives in Tampa, and is a significant donor to R's in Florida.

Not that that makes it great....

edit: not that that is the sole reason, but it's a connection

Maybe donate some of that money to NIL too so we can have a Defensive Tackle.

In hind-site, I’m glad that wrestling was the sport my son decided to focus exclusively on. He had the best coaches, no “deformities”, was in better physical shape than any other sport he could have chose, met great friends that any parent would be happy their kids hung out with. I saw less issues with parents fighting or yelling at refs in 5 years than I saw in 1 season of JV football. Are the moms nuts? Sure. But the kids are exponentially more respectful than football and basketball combined.

Very abnormal from a wrestler type person. Confrontational and intense? Sure. Cry about it after the fact? Abnormal for a wrestling guy.

Amen. The only assholes who’ve had an issue with Ontario plates have been 5”7 240 bilbo baggins built fuckers in Michigan. Deep South folks have always been lovely.

Was Freeman a wrestler back in the day?
If not, he should tread lightly, those little dudes can fuck you up quick in a street fight.
A 5' 5" 133 lber is not not fucking up Freeman, who will have at minimum a basic understanding of wrestling being from Ohio.

Were you trying to trash wrestling while speaking on sports in general? Lol

As a smaller man myself, this coach does not represent the views or the standards of typical short men. We do not condone the actions of this coach and have cut all ties with him immediately. Thank you for your attention to this manner.

Just saying that there are some qualities that are present across all sports while pointing out the emotional lability of wrestlers. I saw a coach who's athlete pinned a higher ranked wrestler in an upset and he didn't even celebrate with the kid - he just trash talked the other coach for some reason.

I should also make clear, while never a wrestler myself, I know some amazing people who are/were high level wrestlers and incredibly successful. Also some great dudes who trained hard, worked every day, and busted their ass but were just never good enough or athletic enough. Skill doesn't correlate with personality.

I guess I'm really trying to make the point that the crazy ones are REALLY CRAZY.
