We have the most miserable fans in the country. As people like to say in sports, a lot of fans don’t know how to deal with any adversity.

We all know our Irish would be playing you or IU in the final. The travesty is our absenceMiami is your only hope now 🙌
It worked out our last 10 games…I’m ready to do it again if it means I see one nattie in my lifetime.Well next year, you can always bet against us again. Step away from the ledge, man.
I swear the people melting down must be from Indiana and they're terrified that NC recency is going to be brought up at Thanksgiving and they're going to cry.
we are the beginning of cfb and you wont change our mindWe have the most miserable fans in the country.
What you just mentioned though is why I cannot stand Indiana's fanbase. Half their fanbase were Notre Dame fans for 20 years, and then Indiana gets good and proceeds to talk so much shit like they've been a juggernaut, Saban-esque football program for a decade or so.Living in Central Indiana, it has become a rally point for the community, just like ND was last year. It isn’t about logo, it’s about locality.
A lot of the same people rooting for IU this year were rooting for ND last year.
“True” college football fans are a 1% club, most people just want to watch football and root for whichever school is geographically closer to them, and just share a fun ride with neighbors and co-workers.

That is what makes it all the more bitter. While absolutely some falls on us for those first two games of we were in Bama’s spot we could be playing against Oregon tonight & looking for redemption in the nattie. That’s why (even though I don’t fully understand the ends and outs of the portal and if it’s good or bad we haven’t gotten anyone yet) we gotta get all of our shit together and get that run next season. To steal part of a quote from Fortune “if it don’t happen now it ain’t gonna ever happen”We didn’t get a chance bc we didn’t get into the playoff. I think the most confounding aspect is the fact that we’ll never know and always have that “what if” factor.

None of this bothers me. The world kinda sucks right now; don’t begrudge people the joy they find. What you just mentioned though is why I cannot stand Indiana's fanbase. Fair weather fans are not interested in the game. being a winner and on the right side of history is commendable. who cares. football is different and should be treated as the holy grail of sport Being a winner and living through the ebbs and flows of the team you support is heart beatsLiving in Central Indiana, it has become a rally point for the community, just like ND was last year. Did IU win the national title that I somehow missed?Did we win the national title? That’s my comparison to Jr and Mark because they didn’t either. Somehow a nobody has ascended but we are still trying to figure it out. Part of it this year was getting the shaft and we couldn’t completely control that ( we could’ve called better plays and executed better in our first two games but it was still getting shafted) but it just makes me throw my arms up in the air that a perennial college football loser is gonna have a nattie when our program a supposed blue blood still seems to struggle to land guys in the portal. What are they doing that we aren’t?

Miami has a good chance with their o-line have to wear them out. Mendoza’s only weakness I see is he reminds me of Jared Goff awkward moving laterally, so they could cause some problems.Did IU win the national title that I somehow missed?
I understand. very hard year to watch these gamesThese people aren’t fans. They are just community members enjoying the camaraderie of watching games of the local team together.
It livens up restaurants, bars, water coolers, etc. on game day.
My point is normal people go to bed after a win or loss the same way. It’s entertainment, some would even say a weekly soap opera. It’s not that deep with them.

Well Oregon is a hole so…The Oregon turnout for these games has been embarrassing
IU's gonna beat the soul out of them if they play like they did last night.Miami has a good chance with their o-line have to wear them out. Mendoza’s only weakness I see is he reminds me of Jared Goff awkward moving laterally, so they could cause some problems.
I don’t think Miami is good enough to beat IU the way they’ve been playingDid IU win the national title that I somehow missed?
Neither team will have any interest in doing that.ND and Indiana both have crap games on 12 September. Rice and Howard. I suggest ND try to talk Indiana into playing that weekend and paying those schools off.
I don’t totally agree with this - talent is so much more spread out nowadays, this team would likely lose to the great teams of 2010-2022. But in this new era, definitely setting a high standard. We aren’t even talking about this being a great team anymore. It’s an all time great team.

Exactly. Although I hope Miami beats them, comes into South Bend undefeated next November, and leaves with an ass-beating.Lots of crying in here about IU winning. Jealously isn't a good look. IU winning doesn't affect ND much; ND just needs to take care of its own business.
I think it’s more just disappointment that somehow a team like IU could put it all together after decades of never giving a shit about football, while ND has been in the wilderness for close to 40 years. Would just suckLots of crying in here about IU winning. Jealously isn't a good look. IU winning doesn't affect ND much; ND just needs to take care of its own business.
