I don’t see it. There’s no rivalry and until last year hadn’t played each other in over 20 years. The kick in the nuts is to OSU, PSU, scUM and Purdue.
So you don’t think that’s a kick in the balls that we aren’t even the best team in our own state? That’s when people think college football in the state of Indiana that it’s going to be the Hoosiers and not us? You don’t think that’s a kick in the balls for this program? What sort of cup are you wearing?

I don't see it that way at all. Both teams path to their success is different. IU is portal and development while ND is recruiting and development. I get it that IU winning it all doesn't help ND but it sure isn't the killer that many people think. How many recruits are we loosing out to IU for? Maybe it will be different in the next 5 years but I also think the whole landscape of college football will be different in the next 5 years.

Outside of keeping Freeman it’s been a bad offseason so far. Literally, every other thing regarding ND has been negative. Does it mean that it will stay that way no.

People say oh it’s only the committees fault. That’s not true. If you start 1-1 at the beginning of the season ND is in the playoffs.

Portal we are getting smoked like the ducks. Kicker was an absolute must have. Nothing.

DL was a must have and nothing so far.

Right Not Indiana is the hotter name, the better team and a better coached team. This not a recipe for success.

I swear the people melting down must be from Indiana and they're terrified that NC recency is going to be brought up at Thanksgiving and they're going to cry.

I don’t necessarily care for IU fans but it’s more about them being idiots and 80% of them being ND fans until last year and less about my concern over their football team.

The portal is gross, the game is gross and IU epitomizes why the NCAA is gross… but… it exposes the always been gross SEC so there’s my silver lining.

This season (and everything that has happened after it) has taught me that I don't like any other team. I only have varying levels of hate for anyone who isn't us.
Sorry to hear that, I love watching college football all day on Saturdays and cheering for a variety of random teams (after ND of course). It makes Saturdays more enjoyable.

It’s not about a rivalry. It’s about positive energy and a popular team.

I’m pretty confident over half the country doesn’t even know Notre Dame is in Indiana.

Most of those negative examples are inconsequential to normal people that aren't nuts that spend all their free time engrossed in it (us).

We will add guys in the portal, several of them. Some will be have an impact, others will not.

ND returns almost all of their important players next season, including a top QB that will be a Heisman favorite.

That's another thing you can't underestimate for IU's success - Cig has had pretty much the same assistant coaches he's had going back to Indiana Univ. (PA). That is really helpful for trust, development and continuity of coaching and culture.

Watching Mendoza.... anybody remember Sega Genesis game from the early 90s that included NFL Sports Talk Football '93 and NFL Football '94 Starring Joe Montana??? You could literally set the 'Hail Mary' play every time????

Geez Louiz....

If Chicken Fingers and Mac Mendoza and IU throttle Miami like this, you can't deny they have arrived and ND will have their hands full next year if we meet them in the CFP, assuming Josh Hoover turns out to be as good as Mendoza.

IF we sign some quality interior defensive lineman, Josh Hoover... Josh Allen... a Hoover Vacuum... neither is doing shit against our defense next year.

No excuses just have to win. Tired of the sky is falling mentality that comes and goes around here.
I don’t know if I feel like the sky is truly falling right now but I do feel that as a program we don’t know how/wont do what’s needed to reach the mountaintop anymore. We literally have a program that was absolutely nothing for its entire existence going to win a nattie yet it seems like we can’t even figure out a way to land some good player to plug holes in the portal. I hope we don’t go back to the 07-2011 sorts of years we had but to use a nascar comparison our program seems to have a ceiling of being a Dale Jr or Mark Martin (both are legends) rather than a Dale Sr or Jeff Gordon (who are GOATS)

We were literally in the national championship last year and had the number 2 recruiting class in the country hahaha

Oregon has all the talent and money in the world

This is an abject coaching failure and Lanning shouldn't be looked at so wistfully ever again

Did we win the national title? That’s my comparison to Jr and Mark because they didn’t either. Somehow a nobody has ascended but we are still trying to figure it out. Part of it this year was getting the shaft and we couldn’t completely control that ( we could’ve called better plays and executed better in our first two games but it was still getting shafted) but it just makes me throw my arms up in the air that a perennial college football loser is gonna have a nattie when our program a supposed blue blood still seems to struggle to land guys in the portal. What are they doing that we aren’t?

We didn’t get a chance bc we didn’t get into the playoff. I think the most confounding aspect is the fact that we’ll never know and always have that “what if” factor.

Well next year, you can always bet against us again. Step away from the ledge, man.
