Exactly, not's not forget that Cig doesn't do any of this without the ascendancy of NIL and the portal; ND never had that although as is the case, now, we won't depend on the portal for sure like IU, TTU, and Tennessee do.

That has been highly beneficial to Cig and IU and most of the staff has been with since Cig started as HC at Indiana (PA) four teams ago.
It's inevitable that at some point, they will start to leave him and IU.

Give me a break.

ND won the portal at least 2 years in a row. Is it different now? Maybe? But I think we beat Indiana or at least give them a real problem with our 2025 roster.

We got fucked.

ND won the portal at least 2 years in a row. [Not sure what you mean? We used it effectively - I'm just saying we're never going to depend on it and blow buku bucks like IU and those other teams.]

Give me a break. [I'm not making this point about now or the last few years; instead, I'm saying the game has changed and with my comment, I'm specifically referring to the ND spent 30 years not doing that part of IrishTusker's statement that sure Cig did it and quickly, but IU suffered more than ND over those 30 years and without NIL and the portal, even Cig couldn't work his magic in the days gone by without them; secondarily, I am saying, that even if it were around back then, ND would likely still have the approach it has today re: the portal - We will always supplement depth with it but won't count on getting a lot of top P4 players spending $10 mill. - That would have and will never happen.]

Not sure what you mean?

1) I've always thought it's the text having a lot of em dashes for AI, but I actually use a lot of those funny enough
2) I got lazy and didn't use the IE highlight feature to reference text I wanted to comment on
3) I wasn't excitable
4) I'm probably neurodivergent the way my brain works - What you gonna do?

Let me try again:

- Cig's and IU's rapid success story would not happen in the past; it's only possible w/ NIL and TP
- Sure ND has used the portal effectively at least for the past few years, but we're not going to be IU. TTU, etc., not now, not 20-30 years if it were around and we had Lou Holtz as the coach since ND is unique in its approach and needs

I'm sure it's been discussed already but it's obvious that you can't understate how important it has been throughout the playoffs to have your staff be all in. Oregon having their OC and DC likely pulling double duty to make sure they're getting dudes out of the portal and trying to also gameplan for a huge game showed last night. Oregon was awful on offense and defense was shredded. On the flip side Indiana was creative disciplined and prepared. Kudos to them for keeping their ass locked in

Like most here, this is why I am having a touch time watching this year's playoffs. I wanted Ole Miss to win it all because of how Kiffin left

IU reminds me of ND last year as the hot team in the playoffs except with all the 1 year rentals. Is IU lucky ND doesn't make it to the playoffs?? I would've love a rematch.

The best part of the playoffs has been hearing Pat Coogan, the "Notre Dame transfer."

The way Miami conducted themselves weeks before the Final Selection Show, flying planes outside of the CFP headquarters, spewing propaganda online about how they should be in, conspiring with the ACC and plotting against ND while running the Notre Dame vs Miami game thirteen times in 48 hours on the ACC Network, all of this has me thinking FUCK MIAMI.

I don't live in Indiana, so I don't get to hear all of the nauseating (as some would say) Hoosier fans, but living in Ohio and having to hear the worst fan base of all, Ohio State, run their mouths about beating us the past three years and winning the National Title last year cannot be any worse than what you Indiana residents will endure IF Indiana wins the National Title.

I think this is a great point & is likely the reason that UO looked so unprepared. If UO didn’t self destruct early, I still think IU wins but not nearly as comfortably. I bet MF & other HC see this, too. Distractions can hold a program back. Look at the few weeks that MF was being linked to NFL jobs. While I’m confident there is no correlation, I bet a portion of fans will attribute the early Portal whiffs to him being distracted by NFL interest.

Miami deserved to be in. The playoff results prove this. I really hate that ESPN made it a Miami vs ND battle to distract us from them putting in too many SEC teams.

ESPN and the ACC are to blame for keeping us out. The ACC could've easily changed their time breaker rules to have the two highest ranked teams meet in the championship game eliminating JM or Tulane from playoff consideration allowing us in.

We are a top three team and didn't have the chance to show it. I'm not sure I'll ever get over this injustice!
