ND has had some of the highest profile signings over the last few portal periods. And, they've even brought in kids from Marshall and FIU.

I refuse to believe that the ND staff forgot how to work the portal. Sure, there are always going to be surprises and misses.

What I do know is that our beat writers are fully clueless. Relax and trust in the staff. I have a feeling we walk out of this portal feeling pretty good.

Two things can be, and are often true at the same time.

1). You can have an objectively poor strategy that winds up causing you to scramble and lose out on some top targets.

2). You can ultimately still end up doing pretty well, maybe just not as well as you might have had your strategy been optimal.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. Just like in recruiting out of high school we might very well end the Portal cycle saying "B+. They addressed all their needs and got some quality players. However, if X, Y and Z had gone differently, this could have been an A class." At this point, that discussion might very well be the outcome, however, people are going to be hyperbolic in the moment. We're a reactive species lol.

Not to be the negative Nelli here, but I sometimes have this "You think the committee is going to leave ND out the 12-team CFP?" vibe when I see what transpired over the past 5 days.

I asked Driskell & Tyler James about this yesterday. Both gave the same response. It does accelerate NDs timeline slightly compared to other schools, but nothing is finalized for the Semester until January 19th, which is the last day to change classes and the like.
