Ryan Day had an 8 figure buyout when he re-signed. Not sure why that would prevent you from hiring future coaches.

I believe MF's agent is Clint Dowdle, described in an article today as Sexton's "protege."

This is the same agent that Kenny Dillingham uses so maybe he's been preoccupied by renegotiating the ASU contract with the recent Michigan interest. Now that's done they can get back to MF

Edit: lemme put this a better way

Walk buyouts are paid by the coach (or new employer on their behalf) to the old employer when a coach leaves of his own accord. These are small, barely worth mentioning. $10 mill in major college contracts, if that.

Terminated buyouts are paid by an employer to the coach if the coach is terminated without cause -Jimbo's $75 mill, Kelly's $55 mill.

No major school will insist on a high walk buyout because no coach would accept one. They'd simply go to the next potential job that would hire without one.

And as soon as word got around that you're requiring a large walk buyout, nobody wants to work for you.

Andy and Ari weigh in ( I just started and haven't listened to what they have to say yet, so no summary)

There is zero chance I will ever listen to that pod. Ari not only is a terrible analyst that knows nothing, he also spent 6 weeks trashing ND every chance he got.
In fairness to Ari after the NIU loss last season he said ND would get to the NC game. At the time he was actually was more bullish on ND than many ND fans.

To be clear I got tired of his 'head to head' sthick too but his role on that show is to serve as a foil to generate hits/eyeballs. I get it so I don't take it personally.

1) first call. Make them say no

2) Give me 2 others we’d have a fighting chance with.

Shit…….We are making lists.

No to anyone that is an old head/steady hand. Elko is a no. I won’t compare him to Sonny Dykes, but I will compare that TCU run to the title game season to the season Elko had this year. That was his high water mark.

Yes, Elko is a fantastic coach, but I see him more as Paul Chyrst with better resources than a natty winner.
