My cynical side tells me that ESPN &/or the bowl sponsor is gonna try every little promotional trick to hype up an underwhelming game simply to stick it to ND as “quitters” or “whiners”.

Sitting in a bar right now thinking how fucking rad it would be to have a game to watch tonight.
I’m not sure this one will go away from a sports fandom perspective. It is still is a source of great frustration, which I’ve never seen the likes of.

I love football too much, and the sting has worn off enough, that I think I can watch… gonna get some Mexican food with the family and drink a few tall beers to set the mood. If I don’t content myself with a full belly and some alcohol, I might get pissed all over again

Same. My blood boils with every mention of it. I think I’d get over it if ND was a true bubble team. They were not. And that’s what chaps my ass.
I’m so petty about this still that I joked with a friend recently that ND winning next year won’t take the sting of 2025 away. I’ll just be more pissed about losing the chance at back-to-back. 😂

I’m going to watch JMU out of familial obligation - my sister is a JMU alum and is a big time ND fan mostly because of me to the point that she’s flown from VA to attend the IU playoff game, A&M, and Syracuse just in the past year. But other than that, this is the most disinterested in CFB I have been since I learned about CFB in the 80s. I hope JMU wins against all odds, less because of family ties than because it would piss in all the powerbrokers’ Cheerios. Tulane would be ok, but I won’t be watching then.

Watching all the games because I love college football. I would love to see both teams lose tonight because they are highly flawed and don't belong but someone has to win. Really pissed and bummed that ND isn't in and should be kicking Oklahomas ass on my TV tonight!

I love this sport, watch lots of non-Notre Dame games, and have always enjoyed the playoffs even when we're not in it. This year though? Rough. The only first round game I've any interest in is A&M-Miami. The rest of them I fully expect will suck.
And it's weird that I find myself rooting for Ohio State and Georgia because I think they're they only teams that might be better than us, and I'll be pissed if a team that's not better than us wins the title.

Not going to watch a second. It will be a cold day if I ever turn on ESPN again. No way. The world could swallow up the whole CFP and I would be ok with it. Why would I watch trash teams on a trash network that screwed ND? No way. I am going to find anything, absolutely anything, to do other than support that trash!! Maybe I can paint a room or schedule a root canal. That would be more preferable.

Saw they had GameDay on at the gym. Couldn’t hear it but did wonder if any of those panel members have the balls to flat out predict a blowout over JMU or Tulane? I bet they stay away from those words and stick to the “may keep it closer than most think” or “they have a fighting chance” or “if they can keep it a game going into the 4th quarter”. Anything to give casual fans enough hope to tune in to see what happens.

Seriously? How could you watch any of that and not be disgusted. It would be like watching someone commit a crime against a loved one. Just thinking about watching makes me sick to my stomach.
