Listening live like a lot of you, but I already think he dropped the ball when he said, "Alabama deserves to be in," as well as ND and Miami.

Note to Pete: There's NO point in stating you are upset if you can't point directly to who we should be in ahead of and what specifically was wrong with the process. All 3 of ND, Miami, Bama could not be in. If you are going to comment on it, which you should, you need to state who should have been left out and why.
He's not attacking other schools / conferences bc we need to keep our options open.

He doesn't need to attack. He just needs to state facts. Bama got blown out and has looked bad all month. If he "can't" say those things, then don't comment at all.

Don't expect anything different that you haven't heard already.

Take - I think he's purposely making this a bigger deal than it is in order to use it as legal leverage to exit without paying the buyout. This is unique opportunity that likely wont present itself again.

The time to do that was in your initial written statement or yesterday. Doing another press conference after a 24 hour media blitz simply to reiterate that you should've been in is a bad idea. The goal was always to get people to recognize that something fishy occurred. That was recognized even if many people don't care because "lol ND". Very few people are going to feel sorry for us, and the more we hold press conferences, the more that number dwindles.

My guess is the PC was for local media so they could their stories, ask questions, etc

Too many Sonnys, not enough Michaels in the fanbase. Not sure what some people were expecting today. Standing at a podium and doing the AD equivalent of telling everyone that they suck and can fuck themselves does you no good when you need allies if you're trying to get any sort of change. Being the AD at ND is 3-D chess, and you need a plan beyond flipping the board if you want to win.

Pretty sure they were hoping for some version of this:

You're right... but I'm going to guess nothing actually gets done.

Which is why I wanted a little Sonny at least.

So to catch up here, sounds like this was the equivalent of Rudy Giuliani’s sweat soaked head dripping oil, as he rambled in front of Four Seasons Landscaping?

Is that accurate?

Scorched earth! Raid the ACC, not just for players, but for teams. FSU, Clemson, NC State already want out … the rest of that mid conference would be rendered irrelevant in a league on its death bed. Form a new conference with that core and toss the ACC on the scrap heap of history. Some of the ACC teams would fall in line out of necessity others would take their rightful place in lesser conferences or simply become the Sun Belt of the east.

Agreed. Dont say "all these teams deserved to be in" and then complain you aren't in.

Alabama didnt deserve to be in. They've been ass for six weeks and got bludgeoned. Miami didnt deserve to jump Notre Dame. A week ago today the committee said ND was better. Say that lol. Also say ND is leaving the ACC. Clearly its positioning ND to be a playoff team and will actively undermine ND efforts to get there.

That's my point though. You don't schedule this while the story is still front page news if you're essentially doing your corporate annual meeting and checking a box. No one who is reading these quotes on news sites or Twitter is getting tte context that this is a regular meeting. They are seeing that ND set up a press conference to further complain.

I'm sorry did Pope Leo issue a Bull commanding or authorizing Notre Dame to leave the ACC and have a salary pool akin to an NFL roster?

He should.

What's the point of having an American Pope if he isn't going to maximize the resources of the Catholic Church to be used to the advantage of ND football?
