Keep going, I'm almost there
I agree with this. It's important reiterate the committee can do whatever they want. I think if Bama loses they can drop them behind us and justify it as a recognition of "how close the debate was" but Bama still gets into the playoffs. This would also solve the fact that right now they have two rematches in the first round. If they moved us to 9 we would go to Norman and Alabama would go to College Station. If Bama wins, they can just keep BYU where they're at and justify it as they weren't going to punish a team for losing their conference title game by dropping them below a team that was idle or whatever.Disagree. The sole reason Bama moved up in the latest CFP was so they’d have some buffer so if they lose to UGA, they may drop but not far enough to be out of the top 12. It happened to them last year when Clemson upset SMU in the ACC CCG.
That said I agree that it shouldn’t happen…but it will b/c I guarantee Sankey has made that clear to the committee.
The answer is satan is alive and well at EsPN.Did anyone else see the thing ESPN put up that said “44% chance of making the playoff with a win” for UVA? I don’t understand
Agree, and there not even attempting to disguise it. Whether ND gets in or not, I just cannot see this system lasting much longer. It’s got antitrust issues all over the place. It's literally a conspiracy. They all got their talking points after the game results went how they did last week and they were like "well damn Miami isn't going to be in the ACCCG now so we have to..."
That's why Bama and ND were flipped after Bama struggled against Auburn, and that's why everyone is universally stumping for Miami now. Nick Saban even flipped his tune this morning to "Miami kicked Notre Dame's ass" when he hasn't said anything like that all year. ESPN is also financially invested in the ACC FWIW.
It's just short of the SEC being a joke. Ole Miss has the win against Tulane which now looks very good. Oklahoma had the win against Michigan that now looks good. A&M, yeah. Everything else is just the SEC beating itself and I think that OM and OU are not scary opponents but they are also not jokes.Even watching it, I'm not really clear what he's talking about (or when he was saying this. He kept talking about what the SEC did on this particular night. I assume it wasn't Bama narrowly beating Auburn.).
But honestly, having Ole Miss lined up to host despite losing their coach, and a deeply-unimpressive Oklahoma team as a stone cold lock, and anyone even humoring Texas as a playoff team, the SEC is already getting special treatment here.
I think the special treatment at this point would be going specifically to Bama, protecting the SEC's king shit program from being the first team out for the second year in a row. If it were any other SEC team sitting in that spot right now, I'd feel a lot more confident the committee would make the right decision in the end.
When "Stanford Steve" called out Saban for using betting lines to stump for Bama before and then used the same logic to stump for ND I thought Saban was going to rage quit. He stared daggers at him for a good minute. It's literally a conspiracy. They all got their talking points after the game results went how they did last week and they were like "well damn Miami isn't going to be in the ACCCG now so we have to..."

for the odds watchers, Alabama’s are plummeting. From -4000 to -2000. Odds to not make it now only +920 from +1500 earlier today
I think a big part of the Miami desperation is that they have the feeling this could be the best team Cristobal ever fields. Cristobal is not a good coach and there's no guarantee they keep getting close with him at the helm. While I would be pissed if ND got jumped at the last minute for no reason, there's no sense this is our only shot. With Freeman at the helm we're gonna have many more bites at the apple.
Pathetic as f*ck.

So the movement to +920 means their odds are getting better that Alabama will make it?
