I’m going to re watch the game today… I really want to see how the lbs played. I know they didn’t make any big mistakes but I also didn’t see all of them making plays. Sneed and ausberry flashed. Like to see how kva and Bowen did getting off blocks and reading.

LB unit is gonna be good for years we need some young DL to steep up to be good next year
I was very encouraged with the d-line depth. They rotated all night.

The linebackers are going to be the strength of the team next year. All these five star studs we've been waiting to see the field can all play!

On defense. Other than Love who is making a difference on offense?
Our backup OL for sure. Havent really skipped a beat. Seem to be playing well together now.
Aneas Williams has been really good when he is on the field.
Jadarian Price has been just as solid and productive as Love.
Id say the three transfer WRs have been solid not great but it goes to show we can get missing pieces in the market.

Knapp, but it’s not a difference made in the direction intended.
Not really a slam on the player but the roster itself. How can you have a reputation for great OL recruiting and be one injury away from an undersized 18 yr old starting at LT on day one?

ND has recruited the OL position very well. Last year's class was ranked in the Top 5 by Rivals. Is your problem simply that a freshman is playing? Or are you arguing that Knapp has been bad?

Also, just maaaaaybe it's a possibility that the offensive "difference makers" aren't quite visible because of the starter's inability to throw the ball downfield? I don't know, that may have an effect on things, no?

How is this possible? The bed wetters on this site tell anyone and everyone that Freeman doesn’t recruit difference makers, yet here is a list of players brought in since he’s taken over that are… making a difference.

Yes. Freeman and the defensive coaching staff have done a great job at identifying and recruiting talent. Not so much on the offensive side of the ball. Wanna take a guess at which side of the ball has been more successful for the last 5+ years?

My gripe is with the offensive staff and their lack of acquiring talent. Hence why I posted it in a wide receiver recruit thread

I would argue our OLine is still the limiting factor on the Offense's success. Doing better than low expectations is not the same as playing well.

Aneyas Williams has only really been on the field in blowout situations, and does not bring anything to the table that cannot be done by any other RBs in the room. Talented yes, difference maker, no. The offense would be expected to perform

JD Price is an upper classmen. Irrelevant to current recruiting difficulties.

Three Transfer WRs being "solid, not great" but still beating out recruited players for playing time. What does that say about the quality of players recruited/development?

I don't think the doomers are accurate that everything is terrible, but the Offense is clearly the weaker unit and its silly to act like the big time recruiting whiffs are not a component of that.

I am not sure that OT recruiting has been that solid during the classes that we needed. Joe Alt was a find, and Fisher surprisingly left early. I would also argue that 3 starting offensive linemen have missed significant time this year, Freeman is on his 3 offensive coordinator in 3 years, and we have brought in 2 transfer QB's in the last 2 years, due to the deficiencies in QB recruiting the 3 years prior to Freeman getting the HC job. (3 Transfers in 4 years if you consider Coan.) It is possible that it may take some time to truly gel. I am not excusing NIU loss, but it is entirely possible that we all drank the Kool Aid that this team could be a major playoff contender with so much youth and inexperience on the Oline, and a qb who transferred but didn't take part in spring practices. The depth of recruiting is showing with the number of injuries the D has suffered and they are still elite.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's the most important player on Saturday. He's built to succeed against Navy, but wouldn't be surprised if any of our young LBs shine Saturday.

I would say we aren’t giving talented freshman opportunities because too much talent exists in front of them.
Carr at QB
At least two frosh at the WR position
At least one at TE
Williams and Kendrick at RB

They could all be the second man in and we would be doing well. They are off hr field due to the quality depth ahead of the. With the exception of Leonard but we also have a serviceable Angeli and Minchey there as well.

Team has talent on O and did well in the portal. No home runs there of course but we had hope before the season started.

Would love to see me some Urlacher missiles launched at Navy.

His Dad is the guy that should get the job but he wont because LSU is a toxic clusterfuck
Absolutely not. He was previously suspended as assistant AD and had to previously resign from the presidential search committee a handful of years ago due to his own failure to comply/report (i.e., "sweep under the rug") certain domestic violence and sexual assault issues with a former player. I'm peeved he's still around and the interim...

Getting back to Jaiden - he might be the most underrated player on the team. Nothing flashy, but an incredibly smart player.
