I said this before with the North carolina situation. Circle the wagons and shut up. ND self reports and gets donkey punched in the nuts.

I have a question when it comes to Notre Dame (NCAA) vacating the wins from '12 and '13. Since it doesn't count towards the school's wins, then why does it still count for Kelly's coaching record? I ask because without those seasons he wouldn't be the all-time winningest coach at ND...

At this point they have just flat out admitted there are no rules. Just bring back graduated players that don't make the NFL or aren't earning enough there. The NCAA can't stop it and if they try just tell them to kick sand.

I actually ran into somebody that works for the Big Ten at Northwestern. He said the big difference between Notre Dame and Michigan’s NCAA investigation is that it was deemed players were ineligible that played for Notre Dame versus coaches breaking the rules at Michigan. He said the NCAA does not have much authority over vacating wins because coaches are not physically participating on the field in regard to Michigan. He said you can’t deem a coach in eligible, thus you cannot vacate wins. He also said that speculating that players knew or was involved in the actual cheating is not enough to make them ineligible, there was no smoking gun in regard to player involvement. He said the only thing they could really do since the coaches are employees of the university is to go after the university and not the players.

Vacating wins is kinda bullshit anyway. Always has been. But the NCAA could've issued a postseason ban, or scholarship restrictions, both of which would quality as "going after the university."
They did neither.

Did he also have a vagina and how much sand was in it?

Well...are we really shocked? All I can say is unbelieveable...blatant cheating, and a slap on the wrist. I will still watch my beloved Irish but my desire for college football wanes even more...

Not in the least bit. The biggest part of the punishment is against two guys that will never be at scUM again and they want to appeal?

The NCAA has little to no legal authority. Each new challenge shows me that they have no more power
And because of this, the lesson is that it's worth cheating and breaking rules because you will get away with it with next to none if not zero at all consequences.

Certain people have to follow the rules and others do not, and those that do not will take full advantage of the enabling that is afforded to them. It seems this is our societal standpoint for what we're willing to tolerate, and athletics is no different. There is too much money involved.

My sincerest apologies to anyone who thought Michigan was going to come away with a punishment that you thought they deserved for all of this. #NeverForget Penn State. I don't know of anything for egregious that an athletic program protecting and harboring a child molester, but they did it and came away with what barely amounted to a slap on the wrist. There is really no going back from that.

Since I live in SoCal and I'm a veteran I get offers from VetTix for different events around here from time to time. Well it just so happens that one of the events was Michigan vs. USC at the Coliseum, so I entered the lottery and now I have tickets to that game. Have you ever been to a game where you hate both teams? I know the stadium is going to be full of assholes. Personally I think Michigan assholes are worse than USC assholes but an asshole is still an asshole.

I went to a USC vs UCLA water polo match at SC because my son's water polo team was invited by one of the coaches. Hell of a game. I wound up rooting for SC (I know) and it felt a little dirty, but not that dirty because it wasn't football and we were guests. UCLA won in OT. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to root for during the football game. I guess mutual destruction.

No, but I’ve been to a game between my two favorite pro teams. I thought it was going to be awesome, but it sucked. Every play I experienced pleasure and pain. Never really enjoying any of it.

I would think going to a game where you hate both teams would be even worse.

I'd have to root for USC.

Navy is the brother.

USC is the rival.

ScUM is the enemy.

For entertainment and passionate fans? I think so. For enforcing rules? I'd give it to the NFL, but they've had their own issues.
The NFL is very good at enforcing rules (when they want to), but, speaking as a fan, on-field entertainment > rule enforcement, and despite all the off-field shenanigans, the college game is so much more entertaining.

The NFL is a cultural phenomenon. The Super Bowl, fantasy football, gambling.

Most of the people on my street know who Patrick Mahomes is. They don't know who Arch Manning is, but they know all of his relatives.

I'd rather watch the Titans play the Raiders than watch Alabama play Citadel. Football is ultimately the product, but the packaging is a lot different.

I'd rather watch the Titans play the Raiders than Alabama play the Citadel, but I'd rather watch TCU play Baylor over both. College football between matched teams just hits different.

Give me Tuesday night MACtion over almost any NFL game.

Something great about watching a bunch of kids you don’t know at all, and just being able to enjoy football with no vested interest.

Nice break from stressful ND Saturdays, and watching the goddamn Bengals defense on Sundays.
