Very eager to get qb reports. Truly want to know if Minchey presses Carr and make this a battle or if it's Carr's to lose. I lean towards the former. Also I want to hear how the lines are looking especially with Jagusah and Botelho out to start the year. Miami has a good oline. Our boys will need to be ready.

Go Irish!

Freeman won’t give away anything + the practice viewings will be limited. Media will sell a battle. We won’t know anything until the first jersey scrimmage at the earliest. Even then the beat can be very agenda driven with those reports. Wasn’t it a few years ago outlets were straight fighting about accuracy of reports of Buchner’s throwing ability in a scrimmage?

I don't see how it can be a battle that goes all the way to game week. Whomever the starter is needs as much time taking number 1 reps as he can get. My guess is the starter will be chosen within the first 8-10 days and that's how they'll proceed to the first game at least.

Now, I doubt that will just be public knowledge at that point, but the team will know.

Both QB'S will play this year, Minchey will more of the goal line QB and short yardage

It had better be a battle. I think Carr is the better QB personally, but nothing should be given away. If Minchey is better, he should play, period.

Definitely agree. Hope to have 2+ weeks with a QB1 getting ready for Hard Rock.

While I agree with Dale that we won't know anything really for quite a while, we might get to know something about the O-Line at least by deduction earlier. If the line comes out day by day with a standard five, then Rudolph feels that he already knows all he needs to, and that if (as would be probable in such a circumstance) no really new faces are in there, we do not have "prodigies" forcing themselves on the field. That's OK as the guys we already know are really good. But if some new faces break into the Knapp// Schrauth// Craig// Abshur// Wagner "expectation", then that's even better news. Anyone creating doubt about our veteran five must be REALLY impressive.

No way of knowing without being present for practice, film sessions, and meetings but I gotta think they're going to go with the QB who takes care of the ball the best. I know the CJ train is pretty full but I think arm talent wise Kenny isn't a slouch so if he proves he can take care of the ball better I lean towards giving him the edge since he already has the edge athletically.

I'm not a QB expert, but I believe that what every team needs (if it's highly ambitious) is a QB who:
A. doesn't stop drives by boneheads or missing wide open opportunities, AND
B. hits a receiver for an explosive play now and then.

That is: game management security, plus accuracy, plus some genuine arm talent. It's nice to be an escape artist/scrambler but we've seen that backfire on us because of issues in the more basic areas. I have no rating for Minchey vs Carr in these things --- honestly, no real game conditions "data." At least one of them must be pretty good at all of them, or Angeli would still be here.

My worst fear would be going with Minchey and then Carr transfers to mich and wins big.

With that said go with whoever gives us the best chance to win

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

On the Independent, Sampson said they get one full practice which will be this Thursday. They get 5 other partial viewing sessions. Last season I believe they got a full scrimmage at the conclusion of fall camp. Bummed we won’t get that. If you get any camp insights or are lucky enough to attend, please share! It’s great to be back talking about real football
