The clip moved too fast for me to see who was throwing those dimes!
Minchey?
First one was hard to tell but looked like Minchey.
Second was #12, that’s Carr.
Third we never saw the QB.
Fourth was definitely Minchey, #8.

This is starting to worry me with the guys out in the sense that once again our QB, whoever it is, won't be on the same page with our guys day 1.

They have all summer (besides Faison) and fall camp still.

Some guys are limited sure but I don’t think it’s that glaring of absences.

Aren't Smith, Faison, Greathouse, Pauling, Fields, and Flanagan out. Outside of Raridon and the backs - which Love is still limited...isn't that like 7 of 10 guys that are going to get regular game reps this fall out/extremely limited until August?

No. KK Smith has no limitations to my knowledge. Faison limited due to time constraints but increased from a year ago. Greathouse on a pitch count, no injury. Pauling limited due to injury, less than expected. Fields not on campus. Flanagan is OFY so not sure it matters.

But like Faison, Greathouse and Pauling have all been running routes at practice viewings. The only person taking zero reps that will play significant snaps this fall is Fields. Gilbert could have capitalized on that to join that likely rotation (Faison, Greathouse, Pauling, Fields, Raridon)

CJ Carr when asked which offensive player will surprise people this year (not allowed to say Love):

“Micah Gilbert. A lot of people haven’t heard of him, and many of those who do know him have written him off because of injuries. We have some good transfers who’ve come in, but Gilbert is someone I really think is going to make some big plays for us on the field this season” (paraphrasing)

I can't even describe how massive this development would be. That would mean depth at the position for the first time in a long time, assuming Faison stays healthy, Greathouse has the big season we all think he can, and Fields pans out (super pumped for him, btw. Haven't had a big body guy like that since Boykin).

Denbrock wants to stretch vertically. Faison and Fields are your best vertical threats.

Besides some drop issues, I’m not sure you can’t really evaluate Faison without the context of Leonard’s limitations. I mean we were throwing 5 yard hitches for half the season, that’s not his game.

Vertical, slot fades, slants, deep digs, comebacks. None of those were in Leonard’s bag more than 1 - 2 per game

He finished pretty strong with 14 catches in the playoffs.

Certainty of a good season:

1. Greathouse
2. Fields
3. Pauling
4. Faison
5. Gilbert
6. Burress

Potential for surprise: reverse order of first list + anyone not mentioned (K.K., Saldate, Williams, Scrap)

If anyone besides Greathouse, Fields, Pauling or Faison make a "big" contribution, this offense should be very potent. Exciting to hear there could be some big contributors lurking in the shadows of the 4 expected starters. When did Carr say this?

Related to my thoughts on Faison, I’ve been from the beginning not a huge fan of Pauling tbh. Watched Wisconsin games plenty and when your spring feedback is the classic he works really hard in practice, I know he wasn’t full go, but that screams limited veteran player that is good for the room but not expected to command a huge target share.

Ideally he backs up two spots so will play plenty but is WR4

Hard to gauge last year for Faison. As Dale mentioned, how much of that was Leonard's throwing limitations. Also, he hurt his ankle early on, battled back, then hurt it again. But, it was taped all year, obviously bothering him. It was still taped this spring. My guess is he was never more than 80% healthy after he hurt it at the beginning of the year.

For a guy whose best trait is his quickness/elusiveness, he needs two healthy ankles.

The II guys have brought up Pauling's 2023 season where he had 800 yards as an example of his potential. I think Pete Sampson has talked him up a bit too. I'm kinda with you though, do we think his ceiling is realistically anything besides WR3 behind Fields and Greathouse? And if Faison reaches his potential, he's not gonna be lower than Pauling.

He had a lot of volume but from an efficiency/playmaking perspective was not particularly impressive, especially for a slot in Longo’s offense.

Greathouse should get that volume and can do more with it

He could be a breakout guy I think you will see us air it out some games I don't expect him to go for 800-1000 yards but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 5-6 TD and 500 yard season.

Cam Williams is wearing 5 now. Can’t give that number to a bum. He must have taken a leap

In his defense, he did go through some putrid qb play during that stretch with UW.

If we're using that context with some of our wr play, Pauling likely deserves the same benefit.
