maybe he becomes who we thought he could be, but i also have heard about this when he was at ND...and that didn't translate to game time

Finishes the regular season with 8 catches for 68 yards, about 1/4 of his total yards compared to last year. However, it looks like he may have only played in November, there's no stats or starts shown for Sept/Oct.

I think he was hurt.

Maybe he would have entered anyways, but Cal is in a really bad spot right now. They lost basically their entire running back room to the portal. The Bryan Harsin OC hire has not gone well

I still feel for him a bit. I get that things didn't work out exactly as planned. When he was healthy he was stuck with Pyne at QB for a season. There was the whole BK recruitment fiasco, and he stuck around through that. Sucks that he didn't work out, still hope he lands on his feet.

Agreed.

He never got a fair shake at ND.

Not that the program did him wrong (that I've heard) just that the timing wasn't good for him.

Too bad

He seems like a fine young man so I don't mean this personally, but in what sense did Tobias not get a fair shake?
Yes as a freshman he had some injuries and Drew Pyne to deal with, but his sophomore year we had a good QB and he was healthy, but he got passed up by Rico Flores. And then he left.
I guess he had the misfortune to be coached for two years by Chansi Stuckey. But at some level you make your own shake.

I think this is a prime example of even if you aren't getting a "fair shake" on the field, worst case scenario you end up with a ND degree. I'm almost certain Tobias is going to fall back on his degree in his life as football isn't going to make him any money. He'd be in my sales pitch to high school kids.

Well, you see, Driskell said he didn't get a fair shake, and Notre Dame was out to get him from the start because his dad was his primary source in the locker room.

I agree, but shoot if I’m admitted to both ND and Berkeley you’d have a tough time getting me to transfer somewhere else to play football if I know I’m unlikely to make my living from it.

Ya, I completely agree. This next move will let us know how smart he is. He goes to Stanford, Duke, or a place like Vandy then he knows he isn't a baller. He goes to New Mexico St......Dude is a knucklehead and someone should tell him so.

With how raw he was he really needed someone who could develop WRs and during his time at ND we unfortunately did not have that

Merriweather got a fair shake, and then he demonstrated that shake every time a ball hit his hands. Whose fault is that?

Well if he is doing this on the field, no wonder...

Rico Flores is actually the one who made the dumbest decision by far. He basically got gifted a starting spot as a freshman despite having mediocre talent. Then he transfers to UCLA and his production goes down by half on a terrible team. If he doesn’t have a bounce back year this season his career is pretty much over.

Do you think Rico would've started for us last year?
