Ewers would be the obvious name, given some of the smoke during that point in time.

I'm a bit concerned though that Carr of all people would have considered transferring. Ewers is a one-year rental. If anybody would want out, it'd have to be Angeli or Minchey.

Because if Bowden did it without MF's blessing, he also likely went against what MF had been telling all the QBs in the QB room - "We're not bringing in a portal QB. There will be a QB competition." If Carr had been told that he would be competing for a starting job, he'd likely be pretty pissed off if later he heard about Bowden pursuing a transfer QB. It would be a matter of not being able to trust the coaching staff.

Yep. Large difference between competing with other guys at your position and getting beaten fair and square, vs. being recruited over in the portal.
Obviously it's open season on Bowden at this point, but he does not feel like a person this program will really miss.

Merck talked about this I think. I don't know if anyone ever confirmed which QB it was, but allegedly Ewers, Milroe, and Klubnik were all possibilities until Freeman shut it down.

Pate is essentially a recruiting ranking absolutist, and bc of that couldn’t conceptualize ND as the legitimate 2nd best team in the country.

Playoff game in the Colly?? At least he knows he isn't winning the BIG.... Setting that bar low.

Very off topic but I don’t think there defense is soft at all, they, mostly the secondary just weren’t that good

I generally like Lanning and think he’s a solid coach. Missouri boys stick together
He went one of my college conference rivals. It's hard not to root for him because of that

The enemy of my enemy….
He seems alright. Relatively speaking. It's an industry of mostly douchebags. So far he seems ok.

Everyone not us is the enemy.

Bowden was largely behind the scenes at ND. For a guy who supposedly isnt a great public speaker, he seems to be getting alot of face time.

Riley seems like a real douchebag... I wonder how long before he starts getting annoyed with not being the only face of the franchise. Between Lynn and now Bowden, it seems like his authority has been greatly undermined.

A few losses this year hopefully is just enough of a spark to blow the whole program to bits.
