I settled on Baldur's Gate 3 awhile back. I'm currently at the end of Act 2. I definitely have some...thoughts about the game so far, but I'll wait till the conclusion before I make any final judgements.
My camp was a virtual Metaballs movie. Did you hit Laezel or Shadowheart? Im #TeamMinthara. If you can get her in your party respec her asap into a 2Warlock with devil sight and agonizing blast and 10 paladin. Drop darkness on your enemies move in and upcast smite the living fuck out of everything. Make sure you catch up with the Harlep in the House of Hope. 😂😂😂 that one ruined an honor mode run for me.

My favorite Tav build is a 6 swords bard with dual wielded hand cross bows (sharpshooter feat) 3levels of rogue thief for extra attack and three gloomstalker ranger. Greater invisible and pass without a trace is basically permanent invisibility and unlimited attacks.

Also you have to at least do one full playthrough as The DarkUrge.

If you need any advice or input I have like 20 full playthroughs with most of the classes and a handful of solo honor mode runs.

This guy has tons of great builds and discusses thoroughly how they behave. Check out his Killer bard build.

You like...lost me so bad on a lot of that  To be fair, I haven't run into any Bards or Rangers though, and I've played little with Wyll so I've been limited on Warlock exposure so I'm kinda clueless on those classes in BG3. I've been playing through mostly blind, at least as far as my class selections and builds go. I min/max a bit when I can, but I didn't do any research on what works and what doesn't, figured I'd figure it out as I go. My "Tav" is a Sorc on this first playthrough, mostly straight damage build although I do have some support spells like Haste because Haste is always good. I did read ahead and got Minthara recently, only because I hate missing things like characters on a first playthrough in case I decide I don't like the game and never come back to it. I usually research how to achieve best endings for the same reason, because if I only give a game one shot I at least want to judge it based on best ending.

For that same reason, I downloaded one mod: Romance All Companions. I wanted to make sure I got the full experience because I'm not really sure I'll play this game 8+ times through to see all the romances otherwise.

My main party tends to be the girls, Shadowheart, Laezel, Karlach, and then I fill the offensive caster role. Twincast Haste on Laezel and Karlach, let them go to town while Shadowheart heals and I sling more spells, works decent enough. More recently now that I have Halsin and Minthara I've swapped them in as my melee just to change things up. Halsin is running around in Sabertooth form.

Also....I felt this...so hard lol

Failing perception checks sucks. If you do a second play through then you should definitely play as she Dark urge and take that all the way to the end.

If you need anything I’m here to help. There are several classes that are really fun to play but they are also multiclassed.

Yeah, if/when I do a 2nd playthrough I've been considering dark urge run. Looks like it could be fun.

I like the worst ending but yeah, being able to go good with the urge has a really fun ending.

You get access to unique gear with the durge if you go bad and there just isn’t really another way I know of to get them. Plus SPOLIER form is amazing.

My top favorite builds:
Tavern brawler throw barb
Tavern brawler open hand monk
Swords bard (multi class in rogue and gloomstalker ranger)
Stealth gloomstalker archer (rogue and ranger)

Ice focused abjuration wizard utilizing arcane ward is pretty much unkillable but it takes a while for that build to get online fully

Red Dead Redemption 2 online. So addicting.......until GTA 6 comes out. I wish they actually remastered Red Dead 2 or didn't abandon the game. It has so much potential and Rockstar let it die.

The lack of support rockstar has for rdo wqs simply a travesty. Probably the most disappointed I’ve ever been with a video game after the pure joy the story mode of rdr2

This game looks amazing and I'm torn because I'm a huge red dead 2 guy and don't really want to find anything better to lure me away (if ya know what I mean).

Also, is it a difficult game?

same i played it for a good year and it was infuriating seeing how much effort RS put into GTA when continually ignoring RDO
Exactly. I want them to add bank/train robberies. Also it would be sweet if you could buy some property and then harvest trees somehow and build your own cabin. Also for the love of God why doesn't the butcher sell animal fat? I'm tired of going around shooting ducks/geese/pigs to get animal fat for my explosive ammo/dynamite arrows.

+Those are all for griefers. 🤣

I had not checked in for a while because we have too many projects going on around the house, work, etc.

In an effort to catch-up with the posts from the last 3 pages:

  • Skyrim is one of the GOATs, can't wait for Skyblivion and whatever TF TES game Bethesda releases this decade.
  • Witcher 4 has me hyped, W3 was incredible. One of my favorite stories and the combat was enjoyable.
  • RDR2 was incredible, so immersive.
    • I really wish Rockstar (or another studio) would create a different take on the early Americas. There are two specific games I'd love to play:
      • One would be around the start of the Texas Rangers assembling to hunt/fight off the raiding Native American tribes, horseback warfare coupled with tactics and scouting teams on an open terrain would be so fun.
      • An even better game would be a young Native American rising to lead a group of Comanches in the plains. The game would involve hunting, skill building, horseback warfare, aliances, networking, trade route development and growing your community. Comancheria was a large swath of land and I think that game could be so rich. It could start just after the Comanches were acquiring the horse-keeping and horse-breeding knowledge from the Spaniards before adapting and becoming the fiercest mobile fighting units in the world. Early Americas has been explored countless times from early settler vantage, I'd like to see a different lens. Can anyone make this happen?

Someone else like @Cackalacky2.0 can probably speak to it better than I can since I haven't finished. I'm more or less 2/3 through though, so I can answer some questions.

Difficulty isn't really a thing if you don't want it to be, you can play with the settings and make it as easy or as hard as you want. There's also a customize Difficulty where you can fine tune anything that you don't care for, there's a lot of options there as far as +/- on your rolls, enemy loadouts, enemy aggression, character power, turning on or off enemy criticals, plus a lot more tweaks. There's also an Honour Ruleset you can play by that changes some boss mechanics if you want a tougher experience, but you have to turn it on at the beginning of a new run as you can't turn it on in the middle of a campaign.

As far as if BG3 is a better game than RDR2, it's not for me to say. I've played both, and it's like comparing apples to oranges. One is built for gunslinging in an action setting, while the other is a fantasy game with a turn based combat system with a D&D character building/leveling mechanic.

Like ulk said its definitely not the same type of game, but BG3 for me is one of my top games ever. I love it. There are so many classes to use and they are all interesting. There are numerous ways to play it as well either based on increasing difficulty with a four man group or trying to go solo.

You basically have three difficulty modes but you can also customize it as well which is absolutely crazy.
Basic mode which is great if you want to explore and take to time to do all the quests that are available for each of the origin characters. There is a tooooooonnnnnnn of quests and gear to get just by doing all these. This difficulty is not very difficult and you should be able to finish the game quite easily.

The next level is Tactician which there are more enemies that have improved AI and health bars and do more damage, higher initiaitve etc... You can also save scum at thi slaevel so if you dont get a result you like or your group wipes... you can go back to last save and start over. Essentially everything is the same from the basic level but enemy and boss level difficulty is increased.

The final level is Honor Mode. If you complete this you get rewarded with Golden Dice. Thats it. lol. This mode is the same as Tactician difficulty but bosses have additional actions they didnt before, higher health pools etc... and you cannot save scum. If your party wipes your honor mode is done and it switches to custom/tactician level. You can keep playing but the whole point is not to die so you will likel yhave to start over. Very difficult.

Ive done each of the origin characters and got their individual endings by beating the game on tacticitian and I have also solo honor mode the game which is peak difficulty. This is certainly the most difficult for me as I had to plan out nearly each encounter and maximize my sneakiness, or initiative, pre cast and prebuff spells before encounters, etc... very fun but challenging. On this mode its best to choose a max build and get the gear you need and level up ASAP and skip any unnecessary quests or fights such that you reduce you chances of dying/wiping. You dont have to do anything really but level up and defeat a handfull of bosses and then the final boss so the "story" takes a back seat in honor mode.

Ultimately, and I dont think I can say this very many games, if any at all, but your experience with tis game is entirely limited by your oewn creativity. Once you start exploring all the ways you play this game, its absolutely incredible how the developers even got all this in there. There are hidden levels and bosses you will never find unless you fully explore, read the books, or go online and get p100% playthrough videos.

For example lets say you are a warlok. at Level 2 warlock you get to choose two class abilities. You can choose devils sight (which allows you to see in any kind of darkness and specifically magical darkness and eldritch blast (which is a free cantrip). There are only two other ways to do this and its not until the late game that you can do this. So early on this is powerful. Essentially you can have someone in your group cast minor illusion or a familiar and group up the enemies into close proximity to each other, then someone cast darkness on the enemy group. Darkness cause blindness which gives you advantage and them disadvantage on attacks and actions. As a warlock with devils sight you can attack into the darkness with your eldritch blast with advantage and they cant stop you. You could also run into mele range and melee them down. this is great if you have multiple attacks that you can do. This is a whole type of playstyle that will carry you through the entire game and it only gets better as your group levels up. Anyway strategy wise this game is top tier and is only limited by your creativity.

Monster Hunter wilds is out! If anyone plays lemme know

I am playing this actually. I've got 3 friends that all bought in and I've played quite a bit of MH World and MH Rise, so I ultimately caved too. My BG3 playthrough is kind of on hold for the time being as a result. I'm on PC, my buddies are on PS5, but the crossplay seems to be working well if anyone else is interested. My HunterID is HD7MP3DS. I'm currently playing a Hammer build for the smashing and sweet, sweet knockouts.

After reading your post I had to watch a YouTube video. I'm intrigued by this game for sure. I'm a big red dead 2 online guy (level 278) and getting bored, trying to find a new game.

Monster Hunter games tend to be weak on story and characters, that's not their forte. The stories are generally forgettable, the plot is often kinda loose and follows a pattern. Monster Hunter's strength is the battles. The gameplay is fantastic, you're basically fighting giant creatures and beating them to a pulp. You get parts off the creatures, which you use to craft new armors and weapons. So, the progression involves fighting progressively harder and harder creatures to get better equipment. You can fly solo, but generally I find it's more fun if you have a crew with you or at least a partner. If you get stuck on a monster you can always fire an SOS Flare and a team of Koreans will come in and kill something for you  I'm only half joking.

The fights are generally the meat and potatoes though, and there's a ton of different weapons to choose from. All the weapons are pretty viable and balanced well, so you can't really go wrong with any build if you use it right. In fact, a lot of players with switch between different weapons, and you can now carry a backup weapon if you want to switch mid-hunt. There can be a lot to learn at first because they give you other tools and things to assist you, like Ghillie Mantles, Wrist Launchers (Good for flinging poo, rocks, and other things at any extra monsters that try to interrupt your hunt), Potions, Sharpening Stones, etc. Once you get the hang of it the game is a lot of fun.

If you're interested in a Monster Hunter game, Wilds doesn't seem to be a bad one to get into. I would check out some more videos first or wait for a sale if it's your first time in. Wilds so far doesn't seem as tough as MH World was, but it's a little tougher than MH Rise. The good thing is they've kept the transportation in which makes hunts go faster, less aimlessly running around.

This trailer is for the previous game, MH World, but it's pretty true of Monster Hunter: Wilds. Wilds just looks prettier and has some more quality of life improvements.

Yeah I played a little of the others I didn’t have any one of my friends who played them so I lost interest after a while. But wilds is great for solo bc you can call a team of box or online players in like Nioh 2. For anyone nervous about trying this one as a first time player the campaign basically teaches you the ropes and then the true game starts after. I just finished the black flame and am loving it. I’m a duel blade primary and hammer secondary for bonking. I’m on ps5 but will post my hunting id when I get a chance
