You have to give Shrewsberry a few more years to turn the program around, but the early returns have been pretty bad. I hope things improve next year.

The point of going to the portal is to make that turn around faster.

Every close game is the same, we fail down the stretch. Burton is our only reliable scorer, and he misses everything in the final couple minutes. I'm not sure who but we need to find another offensive weapon.

The past few games ND has lost we get big leads and we lose them. Thank God this team has Burton and some bright spot.

This team is hard to watch.

Maybe hiring someone because they had one good run in March and started at IUSB wasn’t a good idea

Yeah I’m done. If you know they’re going to lose why bother?
Yeah, that's where I'm at...Not only are they losing, but the players are actually getting worse. I don't mind watching a losing team that is working to get better...I'm not going to waste my time watching a losing team that individually/collectively continues to regress.
Really glad lacrosse is starting!

I really hope that the players eligible to return all come back next year. I think that Burton, Tae Davis, Shrews, Kebba and Mohammad are a solid nucleus and the incoming class is one of the better classes they've ever had (with a potential superstar in Jalen Haralson). I think they are a solid transfer or two from being a legit contender if everyone comes back.

Watching Louisville game and we have 3 assists five minutes into the second half. Offense is just take turns going one on one. Brey never seemed to have the athletes, now we have athletes but they could use some of Brey's offense. Like pass until you get an open shot.

this has been quite a disappointing year, but I don’t get the sense the team has quit. Just need to get the fans back onboard somehow

Love the passion, but results matter. If year 3 isn't much better than year 1 or 2, then the problem is him. We will see.

Frankly, I don't think he deserves to see year 3 at this point.

I didn't expect them to make a massive leap forward in year 2, but I expected SOME progress.

This team looks just as bad, if not WORSE than last season. And it's entirely on the poor coaching from this staff.

This is a complete and utter failure on Shrewsberry's part. Such an insanely poor job from him.

He has 6 games and the tournament. If this team doesn't show some form of progress and the coaches doesn't improve, then they need to fire his sorry ass.

Is that premature? Fuck no. Results matter and so does progression. This team has not progressed. They aren't getting better and arguably, they're getting worse. There is absolutely zero excuse for how putrid this team has played this year, and coaching is a major reason why it's been this poor.

It’s way too much to ask for the offense to be competent at this point. And it looks like it’s too much to ask the offense to even be functional. Just shameful basketball being played. The defense isn’t even as good as it was last year.

Do alumni really care about basketball? I'll admit I'm a very very casual college basketball fan but I will trade a million wins in basketball for 1 football win. I'm not sure I'm in the minority either

This is definitely premature. Shrews has an elite class of recruits coming in next year. At least see how he does with them before firing him.

I do agree that it’s probably premature to fire him after the second year, but the points made above are very valid points. The only thing I can point to in regards to identity with this team is that they do fight and don’t quit. They bring the effort. But after that, nothing. The offense is atrocious. The defense isn’t tough or organized. The team most of the time looks lost on the court. That’s to be expected in year 1. It’s concerning in year 2.

It will be interesting how the incoming freshman look next year, but if we lose Burton and Davis in the offseason then it’s basically back to square/year one.

I agree, this years team is just bad...and hard to watch. What's Tony Bennett up too, I'd throw a blank check at him.

I've watched it like 3 times.

Idk that I've given up on him/them, but I also wasn't necessarily in a hurry to drive to South Bend last night in negative temperatures with blowing and drifting snow making travel pretty treacherous...

They would be dumb to fire him this year, with the class coming in. Next year is make or break, period.

I defy anyone in ND men's b-ball fandom to say they saw this coming, though. Absolutely nobody could predict they would suck at ... everything.

You think a recruiting class is a good reason to keep a HC who is terrible?
