Huggins seems a little too green to me, idk. Relationships he has in NJ and in the NE would be helpful though. One of the most heralded recruits in recent history in NJ, played for Rutgers, and went to a big time catholic prep school (St Peters Prep).

We need experience at the position.... Offense has enough youth with Brown. We need experience at every other position on offense

If Hammock leaves a head coaching job to be a running backs coach, logic dictates he'd want to make that move into the NFL for his career. Forget about money.

I would personally love it as an ND fan, but I'm also a fan of grinders progressing up the ladder instead of sideways. This is how we wind up with the retreads of the coaching world.

I see where you are coming from, but all he's being asked to do is coach a position he's always coached and actually played. He also earned a masters degree in sports psychology, so the guy has his shit together and would probably fit from a culture/values standpoint. ND is going to have more resources for him than UMass and BC, let's be frank on that too.

If I recall, he was pretty high on ND as a recruit and being home ultimately led him to Rutgers. Freeman could sell the "don't say no twice" piece to Huggins if he wanted him.

There are honestly some good candidates being mentioned. I'm sure there are a few that would disappoint the bed wetter brigade, but I don't know that Huggins would be one of them. If Freeman pulled Phillips out of Youngstown State, I could see how that would give people a bad vibe.

It's already a pretty young staff as it is. Huggins would just make it younger. I always look at the coordinator hires as being the most important.

Boston College RB Stats by Season
Pre-Huggins
2020: 259 carries for 946 yards, 3.6 YPC
Huggins:
2021: 356 carries for 1604 yards, 4.5 YPC
2022: 231 carries for 776 yards, 3.4 YPC
2023: 298 carries for 1404 yards, 4.7 YPC
2024: 368 carries for 1858 yards, 5.1 YPC

2022 is an outlier, that was a horrific football team. Having this type of continued and improving success YoY despite BC being outmatched talent wise nearly every game is a promising sign. Idk if Huggins is the right guy for the role, but some bigger program is certainly going to give him a shot soon.

Some other names I’d look at
Sean Dawkins Cinn
Curtis Luper
Trooper Taylor
Jay Boulware
A guy who i think would absolutely kill it but not a sexy higher Patrick Cobbs

McCullough did a great job with Estime and Love and I think he could've those 2 examples of their success on the recruiting trail.

I want Tony Alford- he can recruit and I think we would continue to see results on the football field.

100% no on Huggins.

I know he transferred but he did a great job w/ Diggs too. Also, w/ Payne making him worthy of playing time which motivated the others to work harder to regain their PT

I think it's very likely we will lose either Price or Payne at least to the portal after or during the spring.

Honestly the over/under for the RB room transfers IMO is set at 1.5.

Would love to be wrong but.

Hopefully if half of Payne transfers it’s his bottom half given the injury history and all.

I wonder how things would've played out if Diggs would've hung around.

Wasnt long ago most people on here were losing their minds saying the same thing about our HC. I dont know anything about Huggins as a coach, but I know in general if you dont take a risk before its been earned when you see potential greatness in a coach, you usually dont get the 2nd chance once it is.

This would be a home run higher we will probally have to make him the highest paid RB coach and assistant OC! Maybe he takes over for Denbrock once Denbrock decides to leave
