Tyler Warren killed us on crossers and OSU is masterful at those, especially against man. Wonder if Golden breaks away from man for a while. Also worried about our corners gassed USC style. Everyone loves J Smith but #2 and Tate scare me just as much, you can't over commit.
I think its a stretch to say the best TE in the country having 6 catches for 75 yards and 0 TDs is killing us on anything. In actuality I think only his 1 big play was a crossing route and it took a beautiful layered throw from Allar.

Teams are going to make plays, but that is not the kind of output that is going to beat us. Not stopping the run is why we almost lost the game. Winning on 3rd down is why we won the game.

Look at last year’s game…

ND secondary might be worse without BenMo, but regardless you can’t really make the case that Ohio State’s passing attack is better. Biggest difference is that the ND DL is appreciably worse than last year thanks to injuries, which may mean it’s a lot harder to get QB pressure and stop the run. Will Howard is also a bit of a better athlete than McCord. But basically if the ND DL can play like they did against Georgia and not how they did against PSU then you have a really good chance of limiting Ohio State.

Ohio State’s defense is elite but ND massively upgraded at OC year-over-year. The biggest issue — by far — is that the OL doesn’t have the talent at tackle of past year and has been decimated by injuries. Bring back Joe Alt and I’d feel great about this game.

I certainly understand Ohio State being a favorite but against healthy ND I would set the margin at like ~3 points not 10. Are the injuries really worth 7 points? I’m just not seeing it, and it’ll be interesting to see which direction the line moves.

Man up and stop the run. If their freak receivers beat us so be it.
In terms of college cornerbacks, Gray and Moore are also freaks. Most teams don't have long, athletic, physical corners with elite cover skills and football IQ.

Leonard Moore is 6'2 and Gray is a legit 6 foot. Both have long arms and can sink their hips and/or run with any WR in the country. IMO Moore is already as good, if not better than Benmo. Their WRs will make some plays, but if we get pressure on Howard there will also be takeaways.

Howard is very good at reading and finding holes in a zone. When he gets tight man coverage he will force some balls into tight windows creating opportunities for our guys. If we can get that pressure and speed up his decision making he will inevitably try to get something into a window that just isnt there.

We are better at LB this year and Schular > Brown

Agree, but OSUs d-line is more about grit and relentlessness than it is having a twitchy freak like Carter. They have some bend and can get to the QB, its just in a different way. If Spindler is good to go, and we are able to move Jagusah back out to LT I think it will greatly improve the matchup for us.
Coogan will need to hold up in the middle though, and Riley is going to have to finally get a screen pass up and over the DL. A well timed screened will be there, but their DL is very good at getting hands up and batting down passes, and Riley struggles with that on screens.

Yeah the major issue is that because of injuries I feel like we are significantly worse on the interior D line and at Tackle on O line. Cross looks extremely hampered and we are already thin there.

Don’t want to get my hopes too high on Jagusah b/c the poor guy has been out for the season w/ minimal game reps & I suspect his conditioning is compromised but damn he looked good the other night at guard.

Gotta think Golden will adjust to OSU’s offense as they will most surely to take advantage of their aggressiveness. That said, it’s all pretty simple IMO…stop/contain the OSU run game.

I would imagine especially since it was upper body that if he is ready to participate in contact/games that he would have been able to start conditioning at least 2 months ago so not likely he is too out of shape atm. If anything, he hasnt gone through the meat grinder of a season.

Guys they won the game on a horseshit 75 yard screen with 20 seconds to go before the half and a fucking 90 yard strip sack with 3 minutes to go.

This isn't the David and Goliath people are making it out to be.
This Notre Dame team is the 2016 Chicago Cubs. Close group that love and play for each other. Our coaches will be ready, our players will be ready.
Here comes the Irish.

If it was our team, we would call that guys making plays, stepping up when it mattered most, imposing their will at crunch time, etc etc etc.

OSU is a very good football team. The only part being taken a little too lightly, is so is Notre Dame.

Even now the ML is +300 which still is 25% implied win probability - hardly 0%
It is also 25% more than every other team in the country right now (aside from OSU obviously). Good that they’re here - now win the whole damn thing.

Agree completely. No problem with OSU as favorites, but this is definitely a winnable game if we execute.

In my interactions with OSU fans, the perception has been mutual. I’ve met so many who hate Notre Dame and are ready to talk about it, lol. Granted, we’ve given them a lot of juice to shit-talk considering we haven’t put them in their place on the field.
Ohio fans absolutely hate us but they absolutely hate every other fan base too.
