One thing to note as well. PSU thrashed us running the ball for a lot of the game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see OSU try to run a bit more… but Day and Chip might get in the way of that.

Day has the skin of a grape. Drum up Ohio State wouldn’t dare let Will Howard throw against this secondary, and he will go full air raid to spite whoever said it.

We have the two best defensive coordinators in the game. Put Leonard Moore on Smith with Watts as safety help in the back. Christian Grey in Ebuka and Jordan Clark on Tate. Let Schular play around the line . I’m more worried about Trevon Henderson than Smith. Henderson killed us last time you can’t let him get open in space.
On offense Golden needs to open up the trick play shit and do whatever he can. I don’t think Ohio States Corners are all that I think you gotta establish a run then get the ball to your guys in space. Get Williams love price involved in the passing game.

I’m not going to deny the talent on that team, but I’ve watched them look incredibly beatable at times this year. I’m not about to start doubting our lads now. It’s going to be a heavy lift, but we’re going to win this damn game.

ND undoubtedly the best secondary OSU will have faced. They absolutely need Howard to be loose with the football. He’s an emotional player it will probably be under his skin that we chose Leonard over him. I don’t see a path to victory if he doesn’t struggle (third downs like tonight, TOs)

The commonality on times OSU struggled on O is DT play. IU, Texas, Michigan. DTs + competent secondary. That isn’t ideal for us tbh. Cross will have to have a whale of a game.
Howard threw 3-4 balls tonight that our guys woulda picked off

Ohio State has the worst fanbase in the entire country, and it's really not even close. Just a terrible lot of lunatic psychotics.

Should be fun.
There's no team in sports I hate more than the Eagles, but OSU is getting closer to the top of the list every day.

Thought for the longest time I wouldn’t be able to go to the game, which I had accepted. Now finding out work might let me take that day to travel, but feels like it’s too late to find a ticket that won’t bankrupt me (I am a grad student). Quite the rollercoaster of emotions!

Just my two cents...

In the trenches is what scares me the most… Not sure we can hold up, especially if OSU goes up tempo.

Positives: Notre Dame is going to hear for nine more days about how they are going to get absolutely ass fucked & will potentially be 2 TD underdogs by the time of kickoff. I do believe the Buckeye players think they won the title last night, so there is a possibility of them severely underestimating ND.

Negatives: We are so fucking depleted, not an excuse, but simply a fact. Our young offensive tackles scare me the most. OSUs two inside DTs will be an issue, they were last year.

Must Haves: Have to get OSU to turn over the football, at least a couple of times. Also, I think it is imperative that we score first. If OSU gets the ball and scores fast, I believe a route could soon be on.

It’s going to be a David vs Goliath mentality type of football game.

Because the seeds didn't reflect the rankings and the rankings didn't reflect the quality of the teams.

I would argue this has been the exact opposite of a wonky bracket. It has been chalk. Everything went exactly like people expected it to go.

Four pretenders went into impossible home field environments and got smacked. Boise and Arizona State were gifted byes by a stupid format. Oregon was a paper tiger. And people lost faith in Georgia when Carson Beck went down.
And in addition to that, OSU deciding to fuck around and lose to Michigan really messed the whole thing up

Will Howard simply has too much Drew Allar in him for this to be a 10 point spread.

The problem is we are very very aggressive on defense with these WR’s they have can make for a bad match up and quick scores.

I love how our defense plays.

And you know after watching that game Last night we are not going to get any calls.

So boys.. Dad just called and said his buddy (the man who was in charge of Mercedes Benz stadium until last year) just called him offering free seats for the game. See you there.
Pretty sure my tickets just fell through… god damn Ohio state. 🤣🤣

Going into the Penn State game, I was worried ND wouldn’t be up for the game after winning the Sugar Bowl.

I am not worried this time around. These boys will be fired up for the opportunity to win the first national championship in 36 years. They’re going to hear all week about how great Ohio State is. Friends, this is simply media narrative. Our hard knock boys are going to be itching all week for the pigskin to be placed on the field so they can earn some damn respect and bring it all home.

Go Irish ☘️

It’s very tribal for the OSU fanbase. OSU football animates a significant portion of meaning in the lives of central Ohioans — this is especially true for Ohioans who did not even go to OSU — and they are very defensive about it. In fairness, as an Ohio State graduate and Columbus resident for the past 20 years, there is not much else to do here — unless you consider streaming endless amounts of Netflix or heading to Top Golf to drink White Claw meaningful pursuits.

If we were not so depleted, this is a 7 point spread at close at most.

Came here to say something close to the end of your first paragraph (not about Howard, but OSU as a whole).

Lately they have been very emotional. It was the loss to Michigan. This can lead to undisciplined play. Howard is taking risks, the team is committing penalties, their defense is playing ultra-aggressive at times.

Use this. Make him see ghosts. Goad them into penalties. Dial up the occasional screen when they send the house.

With how emotional they’ve been, we have the chance to really make them go off the rails if we can take a meaningful lead in the national championship. They might panic and fold. They are a very talented team, but I question their mental talent - I hope we can make this come into play.

In every game they played that was competitive (Oregon, Nebraska, Michigan, Texas) opposing D held their running game in check and made Howard beat them through the air. They are easier to defend if you know they have to pass. I hope we take the same approach. Their running game is gettable, then it’s just a matter of stalemating their passing game — I think we have the horses to do that.

In his first game with a defense not all that familiar with his scheme, Al Golden held an OSU offense with CJ Stroud playing QB and Marvin Harrison Jr at WR to 21 points. He followed that up by holding them to 17 last year. The D will be ready to play

This… I just finished watching those games on YouTube quick recaps. If we can keep the explosive over the top plays down and make them work down the field hoping for Howard to make mistakes that definitely worked for Michigan.
Also, here’s the team stats from the Nebraska game… they kept it close by holding the Buckeyes rushing yards down and running the ball themselves!! Hopefully, the Irish can do this!!

Good point. Hinish is undersized but he can be a real pain in the ass and can make plays. He has to bring it too.

So Sargarin, FPI, DokterEntropy, and Team Rankings.com all updated. Each have us as a 2-3 point underdog.

So currently there’s 6-7 points being added for ND injuries + I guess some unincluded # for the “New” OSU offense to the live betting line.

Just a massive massive gap between what the advanced metrics say.
