For awareness since I’ve been throwing it in the IU thread. There’s a chance we see Jagusah at OG it seems Jan 1

That would be actually incredible if he could contribute. But you have to wonder about his fitness and strength with that injury. Can’t imagine he was doing any bench or other chest exercises for a long time with a torn pec.

It was out there it wasn’t a torn pec recently. Rather “upper body/extremity injury.”

Did anyone see that too?

Yeah, it wouldn't shock me if the injury wasn't as serious as a torn pec. Could also be the tear was minor, which still takes time to heal, but a lesser timetable than a full tear.

Can't imagine ND is clearing Jagusah for full-go practice unless he's gotten most, if not all, of his upper body strength back, and with torn pecs, it's generally discouraged to bench press for about 6 months after the injury. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean he can't do upper body workouts, but bench is definitely the bread and butter upper body workout.

Not holding my breath, but I'd definitely explore Jagusah at guard. Sure, you're putting him in there cold, but I have a hard time seeing him do any worse than Pendleton.

I had a partial tear in winter conditioning between my junior and senior years. I was in physical therapy for four months and then back in time for voluntary practices in June with no issues but some lingering discomfort and trust issues, which I quickly got over.

This is an elite athlete, in an elite training and rehab environment, with elite resources.

What I’m saying is that if it was a partial tear, he’d be LUCKY to have rehabbed as quickly as I did*




*jk, I hope it was a partial because he’s probably back and his injured pec probably has more muscle mass around it from therapy than it did previously

It sounded like a very slim chance based on MF's comments. He said CJ hasn't been practicing much, this would be his first full week of practice, and then emphasized that maintaining consistency on the OL was the most important consideration in terms of who would play.

Question is perhaps how much NDs line blocking patterns would put him into situations were he might be tempted to reach and grab a lot. If Jagusah was like ZMart (all punch and dance on pass blocking) I'd have few worries --- ZMart never had to reach and grab. "Grab" was always right in the chest.

I'm going to guess that the Biggun is just going to watch the game unless our right guard just gets manhandled. ... or Billy or the young tackle are limping or something like that. (mentioning that because both WERE for a play now and then vs Indiana.) By the way, the Georgia BS about GA being WAY better defensively than Indiana is complete crap to my eye --- AND TO DENBROCK'S --- he was very frank and detailed about how challenging that defense was.

Healing from an injury and y’all want him to go against an average OL size of 315lb+ and 6’6” height at a new position? Let’s not set him up to fail AND possibly hurt again.

I think unless you're sure Spindler is ready, you have to have that possibility ready to go.

I have zero confidence in Pendleton. I've been super disappointed in his play this year. Expected so much more nasty and physicality than we got.

Howard Cross and Donovan Hinish weigh 280. Georgia has a backup QB who's better at running than throwing, and they have no downfield threats against the ND secondary. So I don't think it's outrageous to consider trying big Chuck in there for a few series and see if he can just not get bulldozed by those huge OL you mentioned.

What do you think the Georgia offense is planning to do?

How about we simply play Big Sean who's just as big as Big Chuck but also is fully healthy and has been practicing as a DL all season?

Run at us. Nonstop.

Our DL depth was already in question even if Mills and Cross played since they’d both be dinged up and not 100%. Stockton looks fast and able to extend plays to eventually allow a throwing window even when our great secondary lives up to their reputation. Our LBs are going to have to play the best they’ve had all year against the run to keep the score low. I believe we still have a chance but eventually our injuries are going to catch up to us and an SEC champion isn’t who you want to face to find that out.

You can't put him in to start right now. If Rocco is out, you put Pendleton in at RG or whoever has been taking reps as the second RG. Keep Billy at LG because it is working

Not opposed, but no one should have confidence in Big Sean being able to give the same amount of reps Mills did.

To be fair, this isn't Virginia's and Stanford's O line they're gonna see. Georgia O line is massive, so lining up Cross and Hinish and saying "run right at us" sounds terrifying. ND needs a lot more beef in the middle just to hold up here against their run game, which will be even heavier because Stockton isn't gonna throw as much as Beck did.

No, we shouldn’t. But if Rubio can do 40-45 snaps and Big Sean does 20-25 that should about cover it.
It’s not ideal but I’m not sure there’s a better answer than asking the next guys in to step up.
