Pretty remarkable article.

Again one thing they have done in the transfer portal is bring absolutely outstanding people to this university.
Freeman and the staff get it. They've not only brought in good players but also guys who are locked in and fully dedicated. The recruiting and portal philosophy has made this a very cohesive team.

Pretty impressive young man. I like the timing. IU is going to be in for a long night.

McCord seems likely to get another year. Riley needs to apply.

Riley played as a change of pace QB in 2021 in 6 Games - all losses. Only attempted 62 passes. He has a good argument.

McCord was on track to redshirt his Freshman year but Ryan Day burned his redshirt by playing him a 5th game against MSU when pOSU was way up.

The theory is that they are trying to argue negligence on Day's part.

The counter argument is that McCord was the backup to Stroud that year and while burning his redshirt may appear negligence at first glance, Day had a responsibility to protect Stroud in a blowout as well as giving reps to McCord so that he is better prepared if Stroud gets injured.

Was just coming to post this. Fantastic read, worth the time!
This right here:
And then I’ll never forget walking into the facility, ahead of our first practice after NIU. I’m doing this slow walk, my head down, real emo. And everyone’s in the locker room, kind of sitting around. And a couple of our younger players … they just called me out. They told me I was being hypocritical. How I’m the guy who always talks about having this unwavering faith. And they were like, “You say you’re a man of faith. OK. Well, we have faith in you. We trust in you. We believe in you to be our quarterback. But you better start believing in yourself.” And that hit me like a ton of bricks. It was like — they weren’t even talking about how I played. They weren’t even saying I let them down against NIU. They were saying I was letting them down right now, in the locker room, just by not being a leader
Bottle it. This is just good.

Gonna say it now, NCAA will deny Riley a waiver because that's how they like to play us.

With Riley only playing 6 games one year and having another season cut short by injury, shouldn't he also qualify for one more season. One more year of him developing in Denbrock's system with CJ Carr returning to health and getting playing time would be excellent.

So it prolly won't happen.

Riley would have to want to come back first. But Denbrock has a pretty strong pitch based on what he did with Daniels in year 2

IMO I don't think McCord gets another year and consequently I don't think Leonard would either.

Excellent write up, one thing I have noticed during a couple of interviews with Riley. 1st, when he was being interviewed with Freeman and Watts at the basketball game a question was asked to freeman about the offense or something like that and Riley had a shit eating grin on his face that leads me to believe that Denbrock has a plan and Riley is excited to execute that plan against IU. He did the same thing during one of the post practice interviews as well.

You guys are delusional if you think that Leonard could get another year. I don't think McCord will get his, but he's got a lot better shot than Leonard.

5 years ago I'd be locked in here with you but honestly everything is so stupid now I will not sign on to this.

Given what's going on and today's climate, all you have to do is file suit against the NCAA. They would let him play to avoid the suit.

Leonard always has had a smile on his face, he really has embraced his time at Notre Dame (possibly more per above messages). Great postgame interview last night about what he said about Notre Dame....another reason why Notre Dame athletes are special.
