On the fake FG, why is the ball not blown dead when the holder takes the snap and his knee is touching the field? Is he exempt from being down?

Think it’s so the holder has a chance to run. It’s a play in the game.
In other words, so they aren’t sitting ducks.

It’s a rule in place to allow a holder to receive the ball while down, but not considered down.

After reading the article in Riley’s thread it makes you like Tyler even more. He left, came back where he started, doing what ever he can to help the team and the starting qb has a bad game and he reaches out to him only to help him.

This is ND. This I why we all like Notre Dame it’s different.

I like Buchner and all, he's been selfless in his return and yet has been very helpful on both Scout Team and Special Teams. I don't think he's the best QB on roster next year though. I think we're still looking at Carr, and Minchey may even be better, we haven't seen enough of either yet to know for sure. That's not to put Angeli down, I think Angeli is a less dynamic Buchner that takes care of the ball better, and that's praise. The nice thing is, as long as he's in school, it seems like he's committed to the team so we likely have a guaranteed backup QB should something happen to the starter and others have transferred.

Tyler Buchner has more int’s than td’s so far. Can’t believe somebody called him the best qb on the roster. If the coaches agreed even somewhat he’d be repping at qb.

I didnt say he IS the best QB on the roster. Once RL leaves, you COULD MAKE AN ARGUMENT that he is the best based on the fact that he is more mobile than Angeli and Carr and Minchey have never played meaningful snaps.

Anyways... the purpose of my post was to ask if he will be back next year?

I'll say this about Buchner, that SC/ND bowl game was one of the best games I've ever been at. He def made some horrible throws, but if we had to ride with him against MAC competition....We win. LOL
