I just spent the better part of a week in the Midwest for Thanksgiving. You hear Arizona folks say its a "dry heat" - well it cuts the other way in the Midwest. It's a dry f-ing cold that had my lips chapped before I even got in the rental car. Hey crank up the heat and have your skin feel like it is peeling off your body when 2% humidity dries everything out. It was low 40s when I landed back in NC and never had air feel so good hitting my lungs. Dammit if every one of my kids didn't ask a dozen times why people choose to live there.

Moral of the story - Bama or Clemson or SMU or Miami ..... they are to going to make my comments above sound tough. ASU might hate the cold but will handle the dry - I give them a climate advantage over the south eastern schools.
All the white guys are definitely going to be uncomfortable with how ichy they'll be.

That’s interesting considering the first round lottery results don’t go out until Tuesday

I think you guys are really overblowing this weather effect to be honest...we are so focused on where these teams are specifically located but dont forget that most of these teams have players from all over the country so i think its a moot point....for god sakes, we even have players from the south, Hawaii on our roster...

Let's just focus on the Xs and Os and stop with this weather.com BS and beat whoever is slotted vs us...

I do think that the weather has a chance to be a big factor, even from a psychological perspective. If your team walks in it, practices in it and lives in it most of the year (no matter where the individuals are from) then you become accustomed to it. I’m from Chicago area originally but I’ve lived in GA and/or AL for years. When I go back up to Chicago in the winter it ALWAYS feels much colder than I remember it! Not sure how much practice time a visiting team will get outside after traveling up to SB but it’s still going to be a shock to the system if you just came from relatively warm weather (and you know the media will be hyping up the weather as well).

I grew up in Pittsburgh, moved to Atlanta 20+ years ago. I just went back to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving (first time in 5+ years) and let me tell you.....It was like I've never been in cold cold weather before.

Yeah I've had similar experiences. Grew up in upstate NY, moved to New Orleans and have been here for about 15 years, any time I go to a wintery location for a visit I'm like WHAT IS THIS.

Gonna be real interesting considering my wife and I are moving to Chicago next spring.

In laws grew up in MI and moved to FL. I flew them up here for our surprise engagement party a couple of years ago in MAY, it was a high of 60 degrees, and they were both in jeans and sweaters.

My FIL asked to do the grilling (at my own damn house, which is a mortal sin, as most of you know) and I obliged because he was shivering like a lil bitch. Plus, it was only shish kabobs, kind of hard to screw those up.

My mistake, I should've mentioned they're not from the regular lottery. Am friends with a booster who donates enough for access to a separate lottery.

I’ve lived in Northern Indiana my whole life, sans four years of college in the southern part of the state.

There is no way someone who spends a majority of their year in the south can possibly acclimate for the cold in this region. It was a wind chill of -7 in my area this morning and it’s only December 5th. Winds 40-50mph. If it’s anywhere close to that on the 20th/21st it’ll break a southern opponent.

Lived my whole life in Indy and still can’t get used to the cold temps. like it is today.

Played my college ball up in Ft. Wayne and we’d start our season every year the last weekend in February. Football is one thing but trying to hit 90+ in 20 degrees is brutal.

As a guy whose lived in both Northern Indiana and the deep south, I concur. It's shocking to your system for a while and you need a long time to adjust. I also remember from high school how much more it hurts to get hit in cold weather.

I would think the best you can do is to get real warmed up and keep moving; maybe wear those long swimmer's jackets on the sidelines.

I can tell you when the local weather forecasters talk about the weather here……their definition of “frigid” or “Arctic blast” is much different than mine. The high here today is in the low 50’s and the low tonight will be in the low 20’s and people are pulling out the parkas.

Grew up near Notre Dame moved to Arizona and New Mexico and I came back home to Indiana 2-3 times per year and couldn’t stand the cold every time. When you are used to the sun 365 days a year it really has an affect. It doesn’t take long either. One school year away and you come back to snow and wind or even just this permanent cloud that rests over the region all winter… it’s miserable. Seasonal depression is real.

Yeah...thinning a damn golf ball in cold weather tends to suck, I couldn't imagine fouling off a 90+ mph heater.....

That 15 degrees or more will be impactful. Especially if it ends up windy. One of the boys and family were up from FL for Thanksgiving. Spent a week and they still hadn't acclimated.

I live in Tennessee. It's too cold for me here. Last year it got down to 4. We were paralyzed.
