Next year’s line is going to be absolutely disgusting. We’re going to maul teams.

Agreed. Isn't 2025 the year to start one of the young QBs already in the system? Protected by a dominant OL and a stable of stud RBs seems like the ideal time to forgo the portal and ride with one of Angeli, Minchey or Carr (or Buchner) and let them grow into the role.

I think Rocco gets his degree and moves on.

Craig-Coogan-Wagner are your Center and right side.

I think you have a three man battle for two spots with Jagusah in play for either LG or LT and Knapp competing at LT and Schrauth competing at LG.

OR

If Schrauth and Jagusah are just absolutely balling going into next fall, I feel like Knapp and Wagner could battle at RT. Probably not too late for Knapp to make that flip.

Lambert is the wildcard.

We’ve got an embarrassment of riches and crazy depth. Good shit.

Lambert - Schrauth - Craig - Jagusah - Wagner

Knapp next man in.
I don’t think Lambert has played a down at LT in his HS or college career?
I know ND is looking at the future to be Black at LT & Lambert at RT, but not sure what the intermediate plan is with Jagusah, Knapp & a pretty good Wagoner all back next year?

You asked why people are moving him inside and I gave you the answer.
I believe the coaches also said his future was inside at the beginning of the year.
I didn't mean to seem snarky to you specifically, apologies if you read it that way. It's more for the coaches/pundits.

I just find it funny/odd when coaches play around with things; if it's not broken, don't fix it. He's playing great at LT. Jagusah is a pretty unknown commodity at this point, on the other hand.

If the NFL wants him at guard, let them figure that out. If he's balling out at LT, he's going to do well at the next level even if they think he's better suited at G.

Terek isn’t going to be second team center. Love thr kid but no burn next year for him
Terek has played RG with the backups all year. Otting has been at center. He's looked pretty good, similar prospect to what Craig was, 260, small town HS but good athlete who just needed another 40 lbs.

Before the season the coaches said he could play any position on the line. I'm not sure if they predicted him to play inside on the next level or not but I think this was said by some media members at the very least.
I thought he had long arms despite his height/size and that was why he was going to be ok at tackle? 🤷‍♂️
I had heard similar things. I'd be curious to hear an exact measurement. Either way, he's shown that he is very capable of holding up against long-limbed opponents at the college level. If anything, my hopes would be for him to develop in terms of consistency and put some pounds on to hold up better on the bull-rush. I'm confident he will improve both and will play good football for us next year and beyond.

Right but why does his “lack of NFL arm length” bear any relation to why he should move off tackle? If an NFL team wants to move him inside, they can move him inside. ND doesn’t need to.

I just have seen no justification for moving a guy who has shown he can handle the most important position on the OL as a true freshman. Why are we not just letting him stay there for the next 2-3 years?

Knapp has been solid most of the year. Lambert has the size and athleticism to be a dominant, difference making LT.

Let them compete. Start the best one. They wouldn't be messing with something that isn't broken, they'd be making a good oline better.

Read this and immediately thought you were talking about Terrail Lambert because my brain is made of goo.

... we have three B1G Ten OLines. Relax my friends. The coach will sort em out.

(I can imagine parallel universes where 70 different combinations of top level ND Olines exist.)

Lambert over Knapp? They didn’t do that in September why would they do it next September? How could Lambert, who has only played in garbage time, be progressing faster than Knapp, who has started 11 games?
Sometimes you just have to put aside those beloved recruiting reports and realize the lower rated guy is better

This isn't a video game. Knapp isn't getting XP points for playing. Lambert has massive potential and could easily take the job. Same with Jagusah.

It’s like Zeke Correll getting overtaken by Craig. The better player rises to the top.
Knapp has been okay but not great.

Young offensive linemen, especially tall, lanky types like Lambert who is 6'7" with 7' wingspan, take longer to be game-ready. How much strength can an 18 year old pack onto this body type? Knapp is 6'4" with a stockier build and may have got the nod over Lambert this year because he came in stronger and more equipped to handle the physicality of college defenders. Based on what I've heard about Lambert, he seems like a hard worker and a good kid, so that’s my best guess on the deciding factor. I could be wrong though.

Either way, that doesn’t necessarily mean Lambert won’t develop into a better player than Knapp over the offseason, or even a far better player in the years to come. Alt is a great example - if you compare his freshman year to Knapp’s, Knapp is arguably having a better season and is certainly a better run blocker as a freshman. Does anyone in their right mind asssume Knapp will follow the same developmental trajectory as Alt?
