Please, for the love of God let this happen.

My wife told me last Friday her family Christmas is that Saturday. This is directly after my dad and I were going through the season ticket email and putting in our orders for the playoff tickets. Talk about a kick in the balls
Yeah, that Saturday is my wedding anniversary(34 years). Really, really hoping for a Friday night game.

John Brice is adamant that if ND hosts, it will be the Friday night game. Absolutely love that ND will have the opportunity to kick off this new playoff system.

I already was annoyed with my cousin for planning her wedding for that night - if this happens I'll be absolutely furious

Everyone is going to have family xmas parties that Saturday and we are all going to be battling those relatives who are like "really, football during the family party?"

Yes Karen, blame the NCAA, not me

if South Carolina wins at Clemson this weekend, they’ll have a pretty good resumé for a 3 loss team and would be ranked right on the cusp. Would not wanna play them in the first round, might be the hottest team in cfb rn.
That Wofford victory doing a lot, huh?

jokes aside, they have a very good defensive line but their offense is average at best. We’ll see how the Clemson game goes but so far they’ve only beaten A&M and a middling Mizzou. Bama being horrible has a lot of teams feeling themselves. A 5 loss OU is a 5 loss OU.

If the goal is to win the whole thing (and not just round 1), then there is a good argument to be made to get the most difficult opponent possible in that round 1 matchup since it'll be at home. IE; best shot to take out a Georgia is to get em in the cold and in South Bend. Or...is it preferred to get a BYU or Indiana type team in round one to help ensure at least 1 win?

This is where I am at. You will have to beat a good team to win it all regardless and due to the league being pretty down this year as far as GREAT teams are concerned, I would rather get one of the “better” teams at home in the cold.

To clarify, she did tell me to go.

But, we all know what that means when the day comes lol
I hope you have that recorded.

What do you mean you’re going to a football game and not MY family’s Christmas?

But honey, you told me to go to the game with my dad.

I never said that.

Of course that Wofford win is a big win. They’re down south, SEC adjacent, it just means a little bit more for them.

You’re going to have to decide what’s more important. It’s an easy decision. Let me know when and where I can pick up your tickets.

Dammit Mike, maybe we share content like this AFTER our business trip to LA.....
Jesus christ the rat poison counts are reaching new heights. One of the most important things an upper-echelon CFB coach does every season is manage 'noise'. Marcus will be sorely tested in the coming weeks.

I'd be surprised if it was Friday night just because of the colder weather. More power to us if we can play in the cold. I was going to take the 20th off anyways.

idk that their offense is “average at best” i’d say it’s definitely above average and their defense is good. Sellers is pretty dang good at QB. i actually think south carolina might be the most complete team in the SEC this year. lost to Lsu/bama by a combined 5 pts in games they shoulda won (did get blown out by ole miss tho). if they beat Clemson on the road this weekend i think south carolina is the only 3 loss team with an argument

Their opponent adjusted offensive ranking is 39th. For reference, AtM is 28, Louisville is 11, and GT is 38 (including the games where they were missing King). Maybe above average but they aren't great even adjusting for their relatively tough schedule.

They lost to LSU because Sellers played horrible, they were rushing for 6 yards per carry against a very soft rush defense. Their defense kept them in the game vs Bama. These three losses look great when you hear the names but each of those teams has 3+ losses this year.

Texas is way more complete than uSC, so is UGA. Tennessee shares their offensive struggles. AtM is probably more complete as well, though they may be worse at QB.

what are you talking about? he was playing great before an ankle injury knocked him out of the game before halftime. south carolina was winning when he got injured.

also uga has a mediocre offense, with a qb who turns the ball over twice a game. and im in “show me” mode for Texas. they got destroyed by uga and their best win is by 3 to vandy and their offense hasn’t looked too convincing yet. i think south carolina would beat uga rn

Good question... personally I think you want as little wear-and-tear as possible, so play the softest opponent you can find in round 1.

This year the 6 seed is definitely the best spot IMO... 11 seed -> 3 seed ACC Champ likely -> 2 seed SEC champ.

This has you avoid the 2 best teams in Oregon and Ohio State until the final and doesn't give you an SEC team with a month to prepare if you were the 7 seed. Jumping PSU is very important to going on a serious run.

LOLOL @ Rutgers and Maryland beat writers and their votes this week… I know this is the AP poll, which doesn’t mean much of anything anymore. But still funny.

Browsing the odds on FanDuel and I noticed we are -260 to win on Saturday but -650 to make the playoff. Wouldn't that imply that we are in regardless?
