I totally get where Greg is coming from here, it's a double standard. The issue is, neither team should've been ranked as highly as they were/are until they prove it, which IU has a chance to do Saturday. I feel like he's saying "well, we didn't' care when it was Michigan, why are we caring when it's IU?" Personally, I think OSU is going to boatrace them. But I've been wrong before.

I'll add, I do feel like it's kind of odd there seems to be ND fans almost defending IU. It's a fun story, I get it. The basketball school who is historically bad at football is doing well. IDGAF that they're from the same state, or for the cindarella story. They are currently another obstacle in ND's way to climb the rankings, with a weak ass resume, and I want them gone lol. Period.
I'm not sure it matters too much because my thought is loser of the OSU/IU game falls behind ND regardless

I hope you're right but I'm not as confident that OSU would drop below us at 10-2 with two top 5 losses. I think they SHOULD, I don't know that the committee would, however.

That's fair, I guess PSU being ranked so high is likely propping them up a bit more than I'm thinking. Though I'd like to think the CFP committee also ranked these BIG Ten teams together knowing that there would be separation through facing each other

The SEC did this shit to themselves and I will not pity them in any way. For years they built their reputation off playing no one in their out of conference schedule while playing maybe 2 tough teams in their schedule and then beating their chests that top to bottom their conference was so difficult. They then went out and destroyed the other conferences by raiding their best teams, or had a big hand it, and now that they are actually playing real teams they are losing 2 games a year and might not get 8 teams in the playoffs. Fucking wahhhh!!! They can get over themselves. I cant believe anyone is defending this stuff.

I think we all know deep down that Rusillo and the SEC defenders are right (even if I wouldnt say it publicly). SEC + Big 10 expansion have created massive SOS distortions that didnt exist previously (outside of a few SEC West teams). It didnt matter as much with the 4 team playoff because a 2 loss team was out regardless.
Cant help but think ND would be better off at #11 playing a BIG team like PSU or Indiana on the road and then playing the Big 12 or ACC champ in round 2 as compared to slotting into the #6 or 7 seed and playing an SEC team at home and then having to play the Big 10 or SEC champ on the road.

I don't see them so much as an obstacle. We're in a good spot already from a playoff standpoint, as long as we win out. I'm okay with a few pretenders getting into the playoff like Indiana or Miami, I just hope we benefit and end up playing those pretenders  There's a healthy break between our last game against USC and the first round, a tune up game against a pretender wouldn't be awful.

Honestly CMU is having a brutal season as well. They beat rival WMU, and are now just 2-5 in the MAC. Might have been cheeky retirement but I also wouldn't be surprised if CMU administration wanted him gone for 1) distractions with spy gate and 2) overall poor performance. Probably both.

On November 11th it was first reported that McElwain had personally become the focus of the NCAA's investigation regarding Stallions on the CMU sideline. Nine days later he announces his retirement.

If he's not employed by an NCAA member then the NCAA has no leverage to force cooperation.

Yeah, I'm aware of the timing of all of that. But they also didn't 'go out and hire him to go 1-5 in the MAC ahead of Wednesday, lol. Both can be true.

EJ is basing their class ranking off ON3 which is nothing but a bunch of Michigan ass kissers.

I assume the Michigan investigation is over. I don’t care what happens to CMU.

With how they’re recruiting, you have to wonder if they’re telling kids the NOA from the NCAA is a big nothing burger.

Well, they can’t sign the contract before they enroll so there may be news about that before they sign. Alternatively, an exit clause may be written into the language.

Worst case scenario would make me almost stop watching the sport entirely.

From a pure fan perspective this is gross.

From a ND fan that’s hates Michigan it’s the worst kind of gross.

If the NCAA investigation comes with nothing on Michigan as a program with all the above… NCAA football just got very hard to watch.

What really aggravates me is the lack of NCAA action on Michigan's blatant cheating...irritating to say the least..death penalty should be coming based on not 1 but 2 major violations for the program

Or kids don't care because they can get paid and then leave whenever they want. The ability to transfer with no consequences has really changed the risk analysis when it comes to potential future sanctions.

This. If Michigan gets pounded with sanctions, they can just leave. Not very complicated.

The NCAA was never going to do anything significant against them. And anyone that thought other wise is a fool.

You don't know that for sure. The 90 day window for Michigan to respond to the NCAA's findings is coming up in the next week or so I think.
