I think eventually the NIL money is going to crowd out money for coaches. The coaching money had gotten so crazy since you didn't have to play for the talent on the field.

I think eventually the NIL ppl will find a way to get paid back from University based on success of the team. A championship is work ~$150M, and boosters will find a way to make that deal. Boosters aren't dumb and they want a P4P deal.

And if you don't think so, map out NCAA 10 years ago to where it is now, it will happen.

With today being the last day for all class changes at ND, I think it's safe to say that ND isn't an option for Keeley before spring practice should he decide to hit the portal.

Not necessarily. Possible Keeley does what Collins and Moore are doing. That being finishing up their semesters remotely at their old schools and then officially enrolling in the summer. Have to imagine ND isn't the only school who is at or near the cutoff for enrolling for spring semester.

Might just be that Keeley is sticking it out at Bama.

Coaches are going to take less and say dump more $ into NIL
Why?
I can't imagine most coaches like anything about the current NIL/transfer situation. It's an endless grind to recruit HS kids, recruit your own roster to stay, recruit kids from other rosters to transfer, with the end result being a locker room full of mercenaries on one year contracts. Hard to build culture, probably not as rewarding to coach as seeing a kid develop over multiple years. Etc etc.
Yes maybe a few lucky coaches will hit a winner and use it to jump to the next big ticket job, but for most, it'll be a wash in terms of results. And the expectations will be even higher because now they've asked the boosters to buy all the players.

If anything it'll just accelerate the exodus to the NFL of anyone who has the option.

Keon with no stats 3 games into his sophomore year with the tide. Hindsight is always a cruel bitch, but he'd look damn good helping hold down the SDE spot with Burnham and Young.

There's probably a good reason he doesn't have any stats yet. He appears to not be ready for prime time yet.

Maybe, but he would've needed to regress or be injured. Imo, they're bulking him up and trying to play him outta position and he's caught in a logjam behind some dudes.

Yeah. I saw he has put on 30 pounds and moved inside? He's now bigger than our SDEs, when IIRC he was recruited by us to play Vyper or maybe move over to SDE. Maybe there's a long game for Keeley as a DT but he could be doing for us what Traore is right now, or starting instead of Oben.

Sounds like what happened with Tyson Ford.

Serious question: he hasn't made the two-deep at Bama yet. What makes any of you think he'd be a stud at ND? It sure looks like he's a work in progress and not ready to be a star anywhere at the Power 4 level yet.

Partially because our current D line got pushed around by NIU and he could probably crack that squad

His high school film was elite. His frame and play style was a perfect fit for what ND would ask him to do at strong side defensive end.

He was not a natural fit for the Saban/Bama defense, as he's been asked to bulk up over what his ideal weight should be, imo (looks to be 280+).

ND's current starter, Oben, has been underwhelming. Burnham is their current best player at the position has been hurt, with Young coming on. If Oben doesn't improve, they'll likely give Young a baptism by fire, which is normally not ideal relying on a true freshman for extensive reps. Had Keeley committed, he'd be your 6-6 260lb 1st year starter and Oben would be elsewhere.
