This sucks, feel so mad for the kid. He started the year well.

Hopefully Traoe will be able to step up big the rest of the season

He can, question is, will he want to?
Exactly. To whose benefit would it be for him to come back for a sixth year? Undoubtedly fans and the coaching staff for sure. What is ultimately best for him as far as next steps? Jordan likely leaves Notre Dame with two degrees. That's the EXACT bill of goods we as a fan base have convinced ourselves of and have been selling to the choir for years. 40 year decision, right?

I wish him well. Makes no difference to me if he plays another down of football ever again. Hope he does what's best for him and whatever he decides will be the right thing.

He might make more cashing NIL cheques at ND vs going undrafted to the league.

I think the argument people are saying is that he runs the risk of going undrafted next year, whereas if he comes back and continues to play well (like he showed signs of doing this year), he could end up having a team take a flier on him in the middle rounds.

Obviously, that all goes out the window if he gets a 3rd-4th round grade. If that's the case, all the best to him - he should make the jump.

NIL or not, if he has NFL ambitions, you have a certain amount of snaps you play in the League. If he's going into the Draft as a 25 year old his shelf life is that much shorter. Surely if it's about the money, he can attempt to remain eligible until his late twenties if that's what he's looking to do.

This guy is a great example of everything Marcus Freeman is trying to sell: he stayed out of the portal, was likely on his way into the NFL having a good start to his final season, got injured his fifth year as a grad senior and is going to walk away with two ND degrees. That's the idea that supposed to make all of this unique to recruits.

The DL could use him next year biggest concern next year is gonna be DL Depth. This opens up more opportunity for Bryant and Boubacor. I'm not all that worried about corner and safety. LB Depth should be deep, we lose Watts at Safety and most like Morrison/Clark. Not all that worried with the young guys getting reps and Urlacher emerging at Safety.

I mean idk exact NIL figures but I would imagine coming back for another year of ball at ND and improving NFL chances would be a better financial decision than walking away from the game now. Jobs are still available a year later if it doesn't work out.

Freeman has to promise captaincy and get him back. Some of these injuries make 25 look better.

I get it. As a fan, my initial reaction when a fifth year senior is injured for the year isn't "can he come back next year?", though. It speak to the whole point of what culture we're trying to preach.

He was an early enrollee too. You stay on a college campus this long, you'd better be cutting people open and saving lives at that point.

Yeah fuck that kid that really wants to be here while attending classes, and also plays his heart out for our amusement, because he won't cure cancer or some shit. Do you even hear yourself?

The academics don’t matter after the get the degree. They don’t even have to take a full class load to be eligible anymore if they are grad students. Most don’t it’s all ball

I've been watching this kid since he was a sophomore in high school. To me he was the third-best LB I've personally watched in Hawaii, but we only saw flashes of that at ND. Two of his HS classmates are now in the NFL. Hopefully he can make it too.

I'm sure the Jordan is still processing the fact that his season is done, having spent the last 9 months training for it.

Having said that, he could try and make a team as an undrafted FA less than a year or from a major knee surgery, or return to college ND/Xfer and make nil while putting more tape out... I think the latter just may maximize his chance for a 2nd contract.. he'd be a core ST guy easily.

Now, I wouldn't 2nd guess him for any decision he makes. Loved watching 12 bring chaos to the field. We should celebrate a young man who has given his all and grown up before our eyes.

I don't think he's shown the NFL enough to get drafted after being out a season, but you never know.
Drafting him after what, a couple of games of nice play, off a major knee injury? Nobody does that with even 7th round picks.
