There is this thing called reporting. Where a reporter gets information and reports that information.

For example. Last year we were told that Kaleb Beasley was going to visit Notre Dame after he committed to Tennessee. That may be what the ND sources told reporters or maybe it came directly from the recruit. But a reporters job is to report that information. I don't think anyone in here was upset about that.

KVA last year, kept in touch with the OSU staff, they believed they were going to get a visit. That was reported. Did it happen? No but that is the information reporters had.

Deuce Knight continues to talk to Auburn and Ole Miss, we know this. I am sure both staffs believe they can get him on campus. That is what is being reported. @notredomer23 provided information from the ND side that refutes that. Do with that information what you want. This is what critical thinking skills are for. But the idea that information you don't like should not be reported is nonsense.

Wake me when he visits another school. But these reports will continue because that is what the staffs and even the players tell reporters. But stop throwing a tantrum every time something gets reported you don't want to hear.

I can 100% confirm programs use writers to influence commits. An ND writer confirmed that to me a few months ago.

We all had it confirmed during the Blake Barnett recruitment lol. Justin Hopkins was flat out neg recruiting ND to the Barnett family on Oregon’s behalf, and did everything he could to make Barnett’s ND commitment an uncomfortable one.

Then @IrishLax started a successful 247 boycott, and the ND beat had to apologize on Hopkins’ behalf because it was hurting them more than anyone.

Then Hopkins left to start his own site after everyone outed him as a loser and a creep.

Feels like this whole thing went over your head. It's not that the Auburn site is reporting information they have. Its that they are reporting false information in order to try to generate clicks and/or elicit a reaction from Deuce or our coaching staff.

Important context to keep in mind is that the Auburn sites had been pushing the Julian Lewis to flip to Auburn clickbait up till now. However, it looks like Colorado has jumped up as the #1 potential flip destination... so the Auburn sites need a new name to focus on.

Closest I remember was Jerry Tillery and his visiting LSU on the regular. There were a few on here that were convinced he was going to sign there even though he kept saying he is all in on ND.
I thought of him. It's similar, but he wasn't recruiting like Knight has been.

No it feels like you did.

If the Auburn site is told by their sources that Deuce Knight is visiting, and follow ups by them do not refute this information, than that is their job to report it. Nothing about recruiting is set in stone. As of July 17th, Deuce Knight is committed to Notre Dame. That is the only verifiable information.

That can change in an hour. Every single player in this class could decommit tomorrow. Recruits and coaches tell people what they want to hear all the time. For all we know, Deuce could have told Auburn he would be there just to shut them up. But guess what, BREAKING NEWS: Auburn expects Deuce Knight on Campus.

It is on you to parse through that information to come to a conclusion. And if all you want to hear is sunshine and rainbows, don't be surprised if you are constantly misinformed.

Sam Webb at the UM 247 site did the same thing during the Spindler recruitment.

Most of these guys are slimeballs.

The posters scolding other posters about being in the wrong for having concerns when news comes out on recruits have no more basis/standing in their position than the posters having the concerns

While I agree its probably good to not knee jerk react too much, if we've learned anything over the past few years in recruiting--where there's smoke, there's fire

McKnight is clearly leaving his options open at this point--which is his perogative, nothing right or wrong with it

It's entirely possible that what was reported about an Auburn visit was true and ND was able to dissuade him

And slightly off topic--It's 2024, not 2004. McKight is out nothing flying up to SB a couple times on ND's dime to continue to get wined and dined and hangout with other recruits.

He also sounds like an extraverted/outgoing kid who probably just finds it fun to "recruit" for ND.

The "McKnight is 100% solid. Look he talks to ND recruits and takes free trips" take is frankly naive/stupid

Who is this McKnight and wait-reporters report information? Writers influence recruits at the behest of programs, confirmed through a writer? Is a writer a reporter? Didn't Blake sell his ND golf bag on eBay? It's all over my head. Slimeballs and d-bags. My critical thought? I hate you all.

I don't think we've ever had a thread quite like this where the commit has been on campus numerous times, recruits for the good guys and continues to say he's where he wants to be, yet we have Chicken Little comments posted constantly.
This is usually the piece I put the most weight to...especially a kid from the south. I wonder if this is the first time we are seeing a real flex of the staff directing "soft money" NIL money?

For context, I haven't heard one thing to makes me believe anything but scandal, or a disaster season causes Deuce to flip.

Edit - Soft money would be more like using the endowment to fly him in. So, not that.

I'm not gonna lie. It fills me with dread clicking this thread. I'm wondering, what just happened? Where is he visiting? We need to relax. He has not said or done anything to warrant concerns from me. I agree with him, say Freeman bolts for the NFL next year? The college game is just so volatile right now. No shame in not burning bridges at this moment of his life. He starts reaching out to schools, I'll get worried. Enjoy the prospect of him in blue and gold.

If Knight behaved like CJ Carr… receiver class would be better full stop. The congratulating Ivan Taylor on Michigan commitment was a bad look. His Tennessee adventure high school shenanigans was a cluster fuck. High upside. Seems like a sincere good person. But no denying he or those around him have had some clear missteps, there are red flags, and things would be better if he handled his business locked down style. I mean ffs he doesn’t have to flirt with any damn school to keep his options open if something happened. Every fucking program would sign him in December/February if he decided to change his mind. I love his upside but his recruitment has been wonky and I dont have to kiss his or anyone else's ass and pretend it hasn’t.

I get want you are saying but the reality is a lot of this isn't coming from him or his camp, simply from thin air. 247 and On3 seem to have become even worse this cycle and it's honestly hard to believe anything you hear from the national sources. I think it's gotten so bad this year with ND stuff that as a fan base we should all band together and break it off with the national sites. Go local to ISD or IB (you might not like Driskell but his annoyances are better then being lied to and click baited).

Sorry for my rant but I'm done with On3 and 247 news, bunch of little bitches.

Remember a couple of years ago when Boubacar Traore - then a ND commit with no drama whatsoever - went to BC for the day with a few of his high school buddies and the BC staff leaked it to try and make it look like he was breaking Freeman's "no visits for four-star-or-lower commits" policy so as to drive a wedge between us and Traore?
Now imagine what slimeball programs like Auburn and Ole Miss will put out there for a QB...

Until Knight actually visits one of these places, or decommits to take visits, it's all noise. Watch the kid's actions. Not other people's words. His actions, for months now, look all Irish.

Carr visited Udub

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that the "visit" was him competing in a tournament at UW's campus, but that UW tried to spin it as a visit to try and throw a wedge in the ND/Carr relationship.

I could be totally off base on that, but I thought that's what happened for that particular incident.

Which is similar to what happened to DK. He did a camp at a HIGH SCHOOL in Oxford, MS and Ole Miss media tried to turn that into a visit.

You are correct. Which is my point. Even Carr had "actions" that scared the shit out babies and created drama that wasn't real.

We better stay keeping this young man’s pockets full

I posted something about this topic a few weeks back where certain states are passing legislation to essentially allow the NIL payout at the HS level which can only help ND since top athletes (or their “uncles”) now don’t necessarily need to be impatient and eager to get an upfront payout before signing NLI, which can only help ND!
