I don’t think anyone is asking for 5 star receivers to be lining up outside the door, but he should be able to do a hell of a lot better than what he’s doing now. The obvious lack of momentum in WR recruiting is concerning.
100%

Stuckey was able to snag Greathouse and James in his first year and then followed it up Williams and Gilbert under pretty similar circumstances as Brown has

He also made short work of Saldate when they had to pivot there

Thus far, Brown has got a couple three stars and made very questionable decisions on prioritizing targets

How much time was wasted on Terry? The guy with the hot mom? Boggs?

Taylor, Meadows--those are just bad whiff

Moving off Cooper and McClutcheon?

And nobody here is even proclaiming he get 5-stars but a program like ND should reasonably expect to get a few top250ish type WR prospects each cycle with a top100ish guy sprinkled in

And guys like Hall and Robinson should be easy layups and closed

He's also not getting traction with 2026 kids

Dude is objectively struggling

Saying different is just silly

We literally could have had Cooper Perry committed over a year ago.

We literally could have had the Washington/Bama WR coach three years ago

But Freeman deferred to Rees and.....here we are

We can also thank Rees for the Del Alexander Experience

If ND/Freeman are serious--Brown gets a year or ND needs to go out and grab the Denbrock/Golden resigning equivalent at WR coach--whomever it be

WR is just too important a position nowadays to be dicking around like this

Especially more so since Denbrock's offense does not rely as heavily on TEs as we have used in the past...i do think we have recruited TEs to offset poor WR recruiting...and it is biting us in the ass...

I do not think that the sky is falling...yet...but I have been puzzled by the WR recruiting over the last few cycles...

And to answer Co...O'Irish...we have had top 100 guys as WR but most have seemed to have been busts vs boom types for whatever reason...Jordan Johnson comes to mind most recently...

Both Driskell and Roberts don’t think it’s for ND.

Singer says he thinks Bama, but Meadows hasn’t called the staff yet to let them know either way.

This would be a brutal loss with how much time the staff put into meadows. Also how he’s turning into what the staff was one of the first to realize

I won't be cheering for him, per se. But he's someone I'll be very interested in following. Unicorn skillset. See how bad he wants it and how his development goes.

yep.... There's not too many players that feel all in on ND then go elsewhere (take the easier path) and end up great. But they do happen. Will be interesting to see.

Most players know if they want the easy path or not right away. By easy I'm talking classwork. They will get pushed on the football field/training harder in the SEC than ND can due to academics/tests, etc, so football will still be hard work.

I'm guessing LSU from Matt Freeman's info this morning.
If LSU is the pick, Kelly is bringing in a top class. He also brought over a new d coordinator to try to clean up their abysmal defense from 2023. Starting to the LSU is offering very nice NIL to kids. Would love to see this kid be Irish with the size and skills but sounds doubtful.

People shitting on Brown want exactly do you want him to do? Your top 10-15 WR’s don’t wanna go somewhere where they have to study and somewhere that hasn’t had a WR drafted in a while. The kids have to be a fit. Look at the top WR’s for 2026. They are all from the South Georgia Bama Miss or Florida. It’s like hitting the lottery getting one of those kids wanting to visit. We had some success in 2023 and 2 of our 3 best transferred. Theres not one WR in the top 40 in 2026 that’s from the Midwest.
They don't want to go to a place that doesn't develop WRs into NFL draft picks. ND hasn't had a day 1 or 2 WR drafted in half a decade. Bama has had 5 and DeBoer's staff had 3 in the 2024 draft class alone.

Del was Chip Long's guy not Rees's.

I know I did a little bit of trolling yesterday but I think I’m having a rough time with the realization that not even Marcus will turn us into a big time recruiting player.

And the guy no doubt works harder than anybody else.

Non-ND storylines I'm gonna be interested in this year are to see just how good the '24 OSU team will be under Day and new OC Kelly with all the recruiting and TP talent (and a lot of NIL $s spent) they acquired since last season; same for LSU if they are having similar success strong in these areas; lastly, curious to see if DeBoer has continued success this season in his first season with 'bama.

That's somewhat where I'm at. I believed in him as a recruiter, i don't believe in him as a coach (yet). If he's not able to take a big step forward recruiting he has to quickly become a much better head coach. Getting Golden to stay and Denbrock to come is absolutely enormous and a great step, because I think freeman can be a great CEO, and less involved with X's and O's. 2024 is huge, everything is set up for us to make the CFP other than a really tough first game.

One thing I know is that whoever he commits to, the Meadows after are gonna be like:

Some serious numbers being thrown at him by ND and others.
