What percentage of talented kids are ready for the college game? I am all in if a freshman or sophomore is outplaying an upperclassman and they get the starting nod, but I also think sitting a kid for a year or 2 to learn the system they are in isn't a bad thing either.
I like what ND is selling to recruits and what they continue to sell their athletes to stay. ND has been successful in the portal, but when these kids transfer multiple times going from school-school-school I don't think it is good for the game.
Will Jaden Rashada stay at Georgia for the rest of his college career?
Depends so much on the position. Skill players are a lot more likely to be physically ready to compete early. Linemen (both sides), less so. And I never want us starting a true freshman quarterback no matter how talented he is. Last time we did that we went 3-9.
But, to your point, the smart kids who are playing the long game will realize they are better off developing for a year or two at least than jumping to chase playing time.
And I think Notre Dame is savvy enough to recruit them with that message in mind. Come here for three years at least, develop as a football player, get your degree. If you don't see the field enough and want to go somewhere you will, you'll still have two or three years of eligibility at that point, and you'll be a grown-ass man.
