Way to get your info from a reliable source and make a reasonable attempt to confirm its veracity. In other words, you know a lot of stuff that's not true.
The source was a press conference. It was reported by every single news source. Obviously, the narrative changed and I missed it.

Instead of making fun of you, I'm going to genuinely offer some helpful advice. People lie. Lawyers lie. That's a lawyer's job. A civil rights attorney representing a shooting victim is more likely to lie than a drunk guy caught with a hooker by his wife. They're notorious for spinning a story that's 100% false to get public opinion on their side and push a narrative. It's what they do. Don't present something as a fact based on what someone's lawyer says in a presser. It's VERY likely to be spun, distorted, dishonest, or a blatant lie. Get your facts straight and get those facts from evidence or at least usually reliable sources before you present them as factual. Learn to discern likely from unlikely. Learn to discern spin from evidence. It'll save you from eating a lot of crow.

Thanks for your advice. I don’t know what I’d do without your words of wisdom. I guess I’d be left to wallow in my own stupidity?

I’m not sure what there is to argue. There is video. Sounds like he announced himself, I don’t see a peephole covered… but his dumbass shot someone that should have never been shot.

I know you’re a descendant of Confederate traitors and never should’ve been born.

Here’s an excerpt of what I read: Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden presented the video hours after the family of U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson and their attorneys held a news conference in which they disputed that the deputy acted in self-defense. Aden rejected assertions made by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Fortson's family, that the deputy had gone to the wrong apartment, covered the door's peephole and did not announce himself.
What the heck re: being born.

also, did you watch the video? It's pretty fucked up but no need to make it worse than what it already is

First tweet I posted here had a lot of wrong reporting, based on body camera footage released yesterday he 1) did say he was police 2) absolutely did not have grounds to shoot Roger Fortson under settled US case law.

Not really trying to argue… but he did announce he was from the Sheriffs office.

My wife says a lot of shit that nobody hears - just because you say something doesn't mean anybody is listening. Damn if I don't pay the price for not hearing it even if I wasn't in the freaking building when she said i.

Spend hundreds on weapons when maybe an extra $80 on a ring cam would be a better investment.

I can totally see someone banging aggressively on your door and hearing some muffled yelling getting you to reach for your firearm before approaching the door. All these police videos where they yell and scream at people even when they comply only to escalate the minute they question anything. To hear this is heavily military area and the cop is that trigger happy is even more disturbing.

Tragic. If you have ever been in an apartment complex some of those doors and walls are built to muffle out sound. At first glance I’m thinking why are you bringing a gun to the door, but with some thought and living in a similar complex and knowing sound barriers are important at some complexes… I can understand why if he couldn’t hear that great. Hard to gauge his intent but it looks like he’s trying to “hide it” near his hip, something I have done numerous times answering my door.

I agree. I have a ring on every piece of property I own.

Yeah and it’s also a common trick for home invaders and thieves to say they’re “police” so even him yelling he’s a cop doesn’t mean much with regards to his rights.

Bottom line — the second amendment and settled case law is very clear you can’t shoot someone just because they’re armed. Same applies to someone open carrying in public. Moral of the story is probably “don’t open the door for anyone, get a ring camera.”

It was more than just the fact he was armed. It was that he had the gun in his hand. He still shouldn't have been shot, but it definitely changed the dynamics of the situation.

Just a full-on disaster for the PGA of America. A horrific accident that killed a pedestrian and the world no. 1, who is an angel of a human and a new father, in fucking jail for trying to get to the golf course.

This is the sort of distorted presentation of stuff that causes problems. Yeah, right. The cops arrested a guy just for trying to get to the golf course. What actually happened is that the police had an area closed due to a pedestrian having been killed there shortly before by a bus. The police had some of the lanes closed and were redirecting traffic while they did their investigation of the bus accident. Scheffler attempted to drive around the closure into the golf course entrance. An officer tried to stop him, then grabbed his car (probably around the window or door), and Scheffler then drove on about 30 feet, dragging the officer who was yelling at him to stop. When he finally did, he was asked to get out of the car and arrested. Sheffler claims it was a simple misunderstanding of what the officer was telling him to do, while the police believe he was clearly disregarding their instructions and taking an "I'm a big shot in a hurry and can ignore you" approach.

Scheffler should just be thankful the lunatic officer didn't shoot him.

It's actually wild this happened considering how close to the course he was. Bro couldn't even handle a golf event, how is he supposed to manage standing beside the guy holding a stop sign on a construction site?

He won't be in a vehicle from the course in regular driving either. I think you're right.

It's the PGA Championship lmao. The amount of planning and logistics that goes into this is incredible. Amazing that some think that Sheffler is just rolling up to Valhalla in a civic without any sort of credentials. Legit a wellness check needs to be done on that moron. Once you find out that it's Scottie fucking Sheffler maybe don't ruff him up.

What did the officer do that makes you call him a lunatic? He was directing traffic, a motorist didn't follow directions, and the officer tried to stop him.

Who he is shouldn't be an issue. He wasn't arrested for trying to get into a golf club. He was arrested for driving around a police barricade that was in place because the cops were working a fatal traffic accident. You don't go around that regardless of who you are. He attempted to, refused to comply with orders to stop (you have evidence and officers and photographers and maybe crime lab techs working in that closed off area), and got arrested for it, just like anyone else would be.

Hanging onto a motorists car for a simple traffic violation. Then not realizing his mistake once he sees who he's trying to pull out of their car.

So, the guy doesn't want to stop and decides to drive through a police investigation site because he's famous and should get his way. So the cop should just let him. I'll try that the next time I get stopped. "I don't want to obey the laws and I'm not in the mood for a ticket, so I'm gonna just ignore you and drive off." Yeah, that's how civilization works.

Exactly. It shouldn't be an issue, he's driving a PGA issued vehicle, holding his credentials outside of the car, and has no idea what the traffic is for. If Scheffler was anywhere near the actual site of the accident where lab techs are working you wouldn't see unanimous condemnation of the officers tactics. The guy was trying to be the story of the day, backfired on him, and now he's getting rightfully roasted.

He’s pulling into a driveway. Idk maybe just follow him? Or take down his plate number? At which point you’d realize it’s a course vehicle.

You’re acting like he did 35 through a crime zone. He pulled around a cop car that he thought was course security. The cop escalates the situation (as they do) from a 1 to a 10 over a traffic violation.
