The standard is going to be $70? Better actually be the full game. And it better be amazing.

^Unless there is some cool physical keepsake, that price tag throws up huuuuuuge red flags.

It’s either Ultimate Team extras, uniform packs, stadium sound packs, etc.

Worst-case scenario is they really are adding a “pay to play” function for NIL and recruiting.

Hopefully just a replica Heisman statue or something though lol
going by the FIFA/EA FC model its probably includes packs for ultimate team modes and a hero/legend card

$150?
Fuck that. I’ve lived without it for ten years, I can continue.

There will be a standard edition at the usual $70, and probably a deluxe edition at $90.

I was really hoping they'd avoid the "Spend a Bunch of Extra Money for the Game Mode We REALLY Care About" for at least the first year, though.

I HATE how video games have turned into these revenue machines. I just want to pay the game, not pay for the game, pay fo online, pay for skins, pay content, pay for game modes, pay for this, pay for that, be served ads every other screen. It's obnoxious.
I just saw that EA is looking to put ads into their games soon. Interesting and depressing at the same time.

I will never buy another game for myself nor buy a game for any kids in my family in the future if adds are in the games. Unfettered capitalism is just disgusting and gross, we all become products and brands. They are doing a good job of brainwashing the younger generations that they should feel that way about themselves, too.

The other side of this is that we're probably in the worst spot for game dev studios in a couple of decades. Studios are closing right and left along with mass layoffs.

The cost to make games are higher than they ever have been and probably higher than they will be in the future in large part because player expectations are so high. The tech will catch up eventually but for now players are going to have to get used to these prices for games that can demand it .

EA is one of the worst companies with horrendous anti-consumer practices.

Unless this game has 85 man rosters and no micro transaction nonsense, this will be an easy pass for me.

I wonder what the total licensing cost is per unit sold compared to Madden? My guess is lower. But, the development time has got to be higher considering the volume of schools. Who knows, bur the price doesn't surprise me. The market has spoken on what is considered normal now for gaming. It's a much different time now compared to when it was last released. It's annoying, but when push comes to shove, people are going to pay it.

I'll pay for it. They'll prob make me a pay a subscription for the good recruits to simulate the NIL world.

I'll wait the first week to read reviews and see if they built a "pure" football game or if they just want to take more money than the $70 I'm willing to offer at purchase. I'll sit it out if they want me to continue spending to play.

I disagree that player expectations are high. If anything, they're extremely low at this point. 15 years ago the expectation was to have cutting edge graphics, full dynasty, full Road to the Heisman, full Create a player, full customization of rosters, build a team, create a coach, all D1 AND D2 schools, etc.

I’ll be waiting for reviews from this site before purchasing. Odds are it’s only going to collect dust on my counter anyway.

Yeah but NCAA 25 is just an example for my point as well. I think the "mobilization" of franchise AAA games has brought expectations extremely low from a feature and quality perspective across the board. Yes, graphics are hard, but we've been past the point of diminishing returns for a decade now, its time to start putting money into something else.

Even if we did want to cut devs some slack because of graphical fidelity being hard, I'm certainly not giving EA a pass because their player models look 5% better than they did on Madden 19.

It's actually pretty insane how long video games have kept the $60 value. Video games have been almost universally $60 for the past 20 years, which is insane. VideoGameDunkey has a pretty good video on it.

I'm 27 and video games have literally been $60-$70 my entire life. Pretty wild compared to essentially everything else. Also tells you how much damn money EA + others are making elsewhere (microtransactions etc) to not worry ab the price of the game itself.
